OMG! Is “West Side” actually California1600??? Thought those “Berk is the Best” threads should be getting old…

^ No. Im not Californa1600, but I happened to do similiarly on the SAT too. Berkeley has over 800 freshmen every year who score 1500+ on the SAT compared to only 500 or so at Harvard. Anyways… a lot of people really like Berkeley and would live their time there over and over and over again.

For me it was simple. If you didn’t get into HYS, you go to Berkeley. I admit, I didn’t get into HYS. But its not that big of a deal, bc we all know how discriminatory, higher standards, and more random admissions are for Asian Americans. Especially alpha Asian males. Harvard has never accepted a single alpha Asian male in its history. And its clear why they haven’t. Anyways… my point is that Berkeley is a pretty good school, and coupled with a Berkeley education, Asian Americans from Berkeley are as good as Asian Americans from Harvard, if not better because we internalized much lesser levels of inferiority to the bourgiouse.

And people didn’t just go to Berkeley to save money. I went there because I liked it a lot better than Wharton and Cornell. The prestige, education, people, atmosphere, Bay Area, experience, California lifestyle, prettier girls etc…

I wish I could permanently live 18-22 over and over again for the rest of my life. I doubt people at other schools can say that. Especially an elite school.

West Side,

You and California1600 are like twins.
He also likes talking about how Asian Americans are smart but constantly screwed…etc. (I am Asian but not AA by the way).

Is this the “oppressed Harvard Asian Theory”?

I’m sure they are all disappointed to have done no better than Harvard.

Is this the “oppressed Harvard Asian Theory”?

I’m sure they are all disappointed to have done no better than Harvard.

After increasing its Asian population to an all-time high 20% recently , I think Harvard should be safe. Princeton is the target now. :)

Princeton better look out . . .

Alpa-male and Asian!!! Wooow

“We don’t need no stinking test scores!” (the azn-male war cry heard at the Jersey border).

^ This guy is clearly stupid. I think he scored around 1150 on his SAT. Am I right Woodwork?

heres some change

See kiddies, this is what happens when you don’t study. You become a bum, and hang around Berkeley. If you live elsewhere, then you come and become a bum in the Berkeley forum on CC. Life’s funny aint it?

LOLZ! I assure you at Berkeley, there are lots of die hard fanatics who love Berkeley like me. I only came to love it this much after I went to some ivy schools in the east coast and elite midwest schools for about a year or so. It was then that I truly appreciated Berkeley. Before I went to other schools, I didn’t really laud Berkeley that much as I do now.

Guys, lets just all get over this whole my school is better than your school crap. All of the schools that were mentioned are high calibur schools and 99.9% of the people in the world do not have a chance to go to a school like these mentioned here. Everyone has a different style and different idea on what they want their college education and college years to be like. It just happens Berkeley and Stanford (and HYPM) all have amazing academics but they all have their own unique style. Yes Berkeley has amazing professors and resources, but it has a huge undergraduate class and you have to compete with hundreds of people. Yes Stanford has the intimacy of LACs and prestige of HYP, but you are stuck in a suburban wasteland called Palo Alto ( from about the 6 alumni that i know, one of the biggest problems they ahd with stanford was its arrogant and snobby neighbors… not to mention palo alto sucked a$$). Let us all just have our peace and stop fighting with each other about who is better at academics, because in the end, it just doesnt matter. How successful you are in life isn’t dependent on what university you went to, it is simply a matter of self motivation and utilizing all the resources that are provided to you, not to mention being able to take some s|-|!t and being humble at some points (hint hint). I know its really really fun to have a rivalry, but sometimes, people are just taking it too far.

BTW. I’ve lived in Berkeley for the last 11 years of my life and I’ve attended Berkeley public schools my whole life, not to mention i take math at Cal right now. Needless to say, I am an avid Cal fan. However, i applied early to Stanford and was deferred and am now looking elsewhere (Princeton im liking… as well as Columbia) but I won’t leave out Berkeley as a choice. But… GO BEARS!

Rodgers is going pro. =…( Oh well, we got Marshawn Lynch!!!

Thats better than in the 80’s, when Harvard had like 5% Asian, and every Asian student had 200 points higher on the SAT than the average white student there. Yes it really was 200 points.

It would be good to see Princeton accept more Asians. But they won’t. Their main identity is being a “white preppy, elitist that doesn’t like Mexicans, Blacks, and Asians”. I would have died in that environment. I think only Harvard and Yale are worth not living in California for. Berkeley is a pretty good consolation prize for AA’s. After all, the most successful AA businessman (was worth $80 Billion), and most of the most successful AA actors, politicians, visible leaders come from Berkeley. There’s a reason, its because Berkeley lets you ride your potential all the way to the top. Princeton doesn’t let you do that. And I seriously doubt it ever will.

Its different if you’re white. You’ll be allowed to ride your potential all the way to the top everywhere you go. Even artificially. But for AA’s its not like that at most schools. Thank gawd for Berkeley. I’m a Bear for life. THANK YOU BERKELEY!

BTW, as a Berkeley folk (i’m more hardcore Berkeley than the rest of these fools on here, ive also spent the last 8 summers on the cal campus with a music program), i would like ot say that not everyone at Berkeley is like West Side. West Side, get over your s|-|itty SAT scores. Only people who have low self-esteem would continouosly boast about their high SAT scores… that they took like 10 years ago. SAT scores mean jacksh!t. Get over it.

Oh yeah, to ubermensch, your one sad fellow. Trying to rep a school that you could never get into (at least from City College of SF… or whereever you go)… stop provoking people and get off this damn forum.

Dood. Don’t get mad man. I got my last two jobs in investment banking and hedge fund management bc of my SAT scores. All recruiters in finance ask for it.

Anyways, don’t tell me to not care about it. Tell the management consultants, investment bankers, etc… not to care about it. I’m just relaying the news to others.

BTW, if this makes college students study harder for the GRE, LSAT, GMAT, then how is it bad? After all, after you get your MBA, its your GMAT scores they’ll ask for.

Nah its coo if he stays. After all, would we tell the Bums in Berkeley to go home? Why should we treat the Bums in the Berkeley forums any differently?

West Side…you’re an I-Banker? Damn, you’re even more my hero now. lol

You went there for undergrad? where did you go to grad?

Where do you live dude? (besides cali)

Used to be i-banker. I’m from the South Bay in So Cal and currently living in SF right now, just moved up here for this job I just started. Went to Berkeley for undergrad…Not in grad school yet, but applying soon. =)

Lived my whole life in california man. I’ve been to other places, and I learned that Asian Americans have it best in California than anywhere else (unless you count Hawaii). So after I learned that, I’m dedicating the rest of my life to making California and Berkeley (two places that went against the grain and actually welcomed Asians) the greatest in the world.

hehe. peace bro.

Isn’t California1600 also in the investment banking field? I thought that’s what he said.
They do look like twins to me…
