My S will be racing the Newport to Bermuda race this June and then doing a number of additional races in Bermuda waters over the next week. We may join him in Bermuda, which we have never visited. Are there hotels in the vicinity of where the racing sailboats dock/moor? Would we want to stay there or farther away?

Ive been to Bermuda 7 times when I was in college and after. Love the place. Hamilton is great for shopping and “city life”. I would definitely rent mopeds or a scooter for a day or two, there is no other way to experience the island. The local people are so use to having tourists on the road, they are generally very cautious and aware. The South beach area is spectacular, beautiful vistas and hotels along the way. St Georges parish is great for the “old city” feel. The bus system was always great when I was there. Horseshoe Bay is the most popular beach on the island. Shaped just like an horshoe. I never had trouble getting there or spending time there. Another great beach is Elbow beach. If you go to any of the restaurants, the dress was semiformal, so you will need a dinner jacket and Bermuda shorts are acceptable. That might have changed, but one had to dress for dinner in the restaurants and in the hotel. All the hotels have Tea at 4, if you can get in for that, it is worth the experience.
