Besides Rice and UT, what else is good for a top student in Texas?

Baylor and TCU, not just for top students, but students who have top money to attend.

Have you considered OU or the University of Arkansas. They have agreements with the state of Texas in which you would pay in-state tuition. I know a few students who chose this option due to the merit money both schools offer. I only mention this because many parents don’t consider these options due to both schools being located out of state. With the in-state tuition agreement it makes both schools great options.

There isn’t any agreement between OU and Arkansas with the State of Texas, but some out-of-state schools have made it very attractive to leave Texas for an education…

For certain majors and degrees at OU, the out-of-state portion of tuition is waived. http://www.ou.edu/content/admissions/affordability/academic-common-market.html

There are also other non-resident scholarships at OU.

Arkansas offers a very good scholarship program for residents of certain states, including Texas.

That being said, both schools offer some great scholarship options for out-of-state students beyond what I have posted above.

We hadn’t really thought about OU and Arkansas yet. Those are excellent suggestions. Thank you!
