Best Athletes Word Cup Vs NFL

The Superstars competition is not track and field.

The events include a single power event , weightlifting, but the rules allow a competitor to select out of that. Only 7 of the 10 events are required.

Opt out of the 100 yard dash, weightlifting, and basketball and the overwhelming advantage goes to a soccer player.

What about having the NFL take on the world in a World’s Strongest Man style competition, if we are going to cherry pick TV shows?

I still think Rugby would be an interesting test. But any ball game that allowed the use of the hands would be somewhat unfair to soccer.

What about “Most Painful Eliminations”?

Before pooh poohing Superstars take a look at some of the old shows and observe how some famous athletes struggled with the obstacle course especially when trying to scale the wall. The show changed the events from year to year too. I wasn’t keen on watching athletes bowl since it gave an advantage to someone who happened to bowl since they were a kid.

Many competitors chose to enter both the 100 yard dash and the 800 yard run. Few of them were able to win both events.

Baseball fans remark that hitting a baseball is the most difficult thing to do in sports. Basketball fans bring up the belief that basketball players are the best athletes in the world. Golf fans are of the opinion that Tiger Woods is the greatest athlete in the world. NFL fans probably believe that football players are the most powerful athletes. Rugby fans believe that rugby is a ruffians game played by gentlemen. And soccer fans believe that their sport is a gentleman’s game played by hooligans.

You could never come up with a way to measure which sport has the greatest athletes that will satisfy everybody. What Superstars has shown is there are unbelievable athletes outside of the major sports. Superstars Champion came from dozens and dozens of sports, and not only from the NFL, the NBA, or MLB.

^ The superstars outcome does not surprise me at all … soccer players are among the best all around athletes in the world … that said track & field is ALL about specialization … among the NFL players where will be stronger guys to win the weight events and faster guys to win the sprints and jumps. The NFL would go with a roster of 50 guys while the soccer guys could go with a lot less guys … the soccer guys would do a good job in lots of events but often get beat by a guy from the NFL who is worthless in all events but one which he excels in.

How about a 2 year long supercontest (with sponsers and compensation for the atheletes) which pits teams of selected atheletes against each other in all and every sport?

How would an NFL quarterback do against a top Brazilian soccer goalie in curling?

Alpine and Nordic events would favor soccer players from the frozen northlands.

Basketball would go to the NFL and probably baseball due to cultural bias.

Soccer players would rock at cricket (we know where those would come from).

I think rugby would be a tossup. I started trying to play rugby after college in the way back times and quickly, quickly dropped 30 lbs. without dieting.

Badminton, tennis, racketball, handball, squash, camber tossing, is bass fishing a sport for our purposes?..Fly fishing for trout, horse racing, water polo, NASCAR and
INDY,…

Two years wouldn’t be enough.

Rugby, football, and soccer are all offshoots of the same game that was played a long time ago. They evolved over time into the modern versions.

Lacrosse!!!

do not think the soccer players would be caught by such a person.

don’t worry i appreciated your post.

defensive ends/linebackers aren’t 350 pounds, but they are huge and they are fast. soccer players really only have the edge in endurance. i’d be surprised if they were faster or stronger than football players.

the reason why football players wear pads is because early on in the sport players would get killed or seriously injured on the football field.
