Like Paladin said, 960 is a pretty low score. Though they do look at other things (Grades, Recos, Extracurriculars, Essays, etc). But SAT scores are important, and a bad one can really pull you down.

I didn’t mean it was an Ivy per se. I just mean it’s like harvey mudd, --very selective and tough to get into. Also, one of my favorite. The thing is, i had like ADD or soemthing, everyopne is really surprised when i tell them my ACT is 22 and SAT is 960. I did however get a decent 25 on math portion of ACT, which i’m proud of. But why do you guys make such a big deal about scores? they really don’t matter for free money…? My goal was to go to schoool and not pay a penny. I never beleivced scores were important. I still got every penny of my education paid for at arizona state, plus i’m running. Tip for other 960ers: work your but off in every single other thing you do, and do them well, i guarantee you will get your education paid for.

scores definitely don’t paint a fair picture of an applicant, but selective colleges do put a big weight on it, which was why we were quickly drawn to yours. i’m proud of you for your full ride at ASU, tho. actually, my best friend is heading there too, full ride+stipend at the honors college. good luck to you both!

yeah, thank you very much for that. I beleive i hard work and myself. So what’s your scores, what school you going to? what’s your friend majoring in?
Javier, 436 miler (as in i run the mile)

That is a good perspective and its good to be a hard worker, however sadly, many colleges weigh the SAT/ACT score to a certain degree. Even though many of us may not like them to do so, they do. Especially for schools in the upper echelon, SAT scores are weighed much more.

my best friend’s probably going to double major in creative writing and some kind of a pre-law program (she hasn’t decided yet). i myself will be heading to dartmouth, with the current plan of double majoring in government/economics and perhaps picking up a new language. i don’t post specific stats on a public forum (it’s a matter for personal preference), but my school’s average SAT is ~1490 and both my friend and i scored above average.
