Best semi-competitive public schools for OOS merit aid (business focus)?

My daughter is at USC and the experience has beeen amazing. Their first year program is rated the best in the country and it shows. The honors program is extremely competitive but worth a try for the most merit but even outside of the top tier they do make it affordable for high achieving oos students.

Your stats are fairly similar to mine I feel (1540, 3.95, 14 APs)

Texas schools like UT Dallas and University of Houston have been my cheapest so far, they give scholarships combined with in state tuition bringing them to roughly 20k for me.

Binghamton seems to give high stats students a presidential scholarship of 13-15.5k, with my stats I got 15.5, but their metrics could change by 2026.

Florida schools seem to give out a lot of in state waivers too
University of South Carolina is another one that gives out a lot of merit, alabama too. Historically Temple seems to give a lot, but this year they have taken much longer to dish out money so they could be changing their methods as well.

You are currently a sophomore tho, so I would recommend studying a lot for the psat in Junior yr for national merit, which could net you full ride scholarships at many schools.

Might be a little late in the game for Class of 2024 but for high-stats juniors with the right family financial profile, if you’re open to OOS merit aid, you need to consider including Wisc-Madison on your list.

I would also add Tennessee and Auburn, both of which have good business schools, to the list.

I thought UW Madison gave very little if any merit money, particularly for a direct admit to business.

This is accurate. I double checked this stat today for another post. About 5% of the UW Madison student body gets any kind of merit award according to the last CDS the average award being 7K. Many of their available scholarships are niche and need to be applied for seperately. Both my kids did were awarded music scholarships that would be counted that way.
