<p>I wouldn’t recommend taking public transportation with two large suitcases if he’s never been to NYC before. Maybe he’s better at directions than me but I know personally that the first time I used the subway by myself was extremely confusing, even though I’d been on the subway before with my parents. Plus it would be hard to carry the suitcases up and down stairs; sometimes it’s really hard to find the elevators. NYC is also a bit overwhelming in and of itself if he’s never been there before and if he doesn’t know what the dorm looks like.</p>
