<p>Just do History or Poli sci. They are both generally BS like the UC-Irvine criminology program, but if you do one of those two you’ll be able to practice your reading and writing skills. You’d be able to do the same with the criminology program, but that is more akin to sociology and is not as intellectually rigorous. </p>
<p>If you actually want to get a decent non-law job instead of law school, do accounting, econ or engineering. You may end up wanting to work following graduation from Irvine, and a UC-Irvine criminology, history or poli sci degree probably won’t get you a decent job upon graduation (except as a cop).</p>
