The city is Boston. And she needs to be near a mass transit line to get her to downtown.

Well…that opens up just about anywhere in greater Boston as the T runs in all directions! I hope she finds something…soon.

ETA…we know several young folks who had really good success looking for apartments to share using craigslist on Boston. One now lives in Somerville. Another in Cambridge, another in Medford. Have her check Craigslist.

She has been checking Craig’s list every day for weeks. However she has several problems— what she can afford and time to spend looking and visiting prospective places. But she is open to anywhere.

This job is, well I am at a loss for words. She had to submit her resume and an application that asked for her college GPA and SAT scores. If passing to the second step, a phone interview. If passing to the third step a personal interview and then a writing sample taking a position on a recent news story. THEN, if you get the job, you get to work for 60-80 hours a week for a salary next to nothing! Really?

It is her choice. It is a non-profit working for things she believes in. I 100% support her. ( I just do not want to be 100% supporting her financially!). I guess these organizations are taking advantage of youthful idealism and energy. But I cannot really expect my D2 to not get burned out, with so many hours and so little money, after a short time.

Yea, lots of public health jobs around here are like that as well. Very long hours and LOTS of turnover, with wages that are OK but not great, considering the hours and stress. I’m sure she’ll learn a lot at this job and build on it. Good luck with the hunt.

My D had to couch surf for a few weeks until she found a place that she’s fairly OK with in LA. It’s a room in a house, where she doesn’t really KNOW the others living in the house well. She hopes it is a temporary situation until she figures out where she’s working or interning and can move closer to one of those places. I don’t know how she found it. It IS hard when they are making their way and trying to find an affordable place that is safe. I’m grateful it’s reasonably priced but we were fine with her staying somewhere nicer and paying a bit more. We left the choice to her.

Don’t know Boston well, but surely something will work out.
