does anyone know what Vanderbilts acceptance/rejection letter looks like? mine’s on its way (they send the 15th) and ive never been so scared in my life… so just wondering what to look out for although my mom said shes hiding the mail cuz the letter comes in the middle of my finals which blows

It’s quite deceiving. If you applied ED, it’s a bleak white envelope, but a bit fat if you feel through it.

lol, im pretty sure that any acceptance letter would sound good.

wouldnt it be brutal if you opened a letter and it just had a picture of a middle finger?

How about a postcard that just says “No.” in big black letters and comes postage-due? :)

michigan’s rejection letter is pretty cold… its just like

Dear so and so who we really dont care about

so yeah, ya didnt get in. too bad. you can transfer if you want, but we’ll most likely not take you in. thanks for the $40 admission fee, we’ll use it for the annual admissions office cocktail party. oh and dont bother to call us, cause we wont answer.

have a nice day, oh nvm, your day was just ruined haha.

Dean of admissions.

p.s. you suck.

This isn’t a college rejection letter story. But ten years ago, a few weeks after I had started a new job with a large company, I received a postcard from its HR group saying that they had received my resume, and that while there were no openings that matched my qualifications, they would keep my resume on file for six months, in case something came up for which I was qualified.

WPI had a nice acceptance letter. It was phrased like the others I’ve seen here. I liked it because it was to the point.

"Dear So-and-so,

Congratulations! On behalf of the WPI Admissions Committee…"

The acceptance letter from the Macaulay honors college is nice, yet I wish it was more personnel. It begins with a congratulations, and then goes on to describe campus and the perks of the program. Hand signed. Very nice paper as well. :)

The funniest and worst rejection letter would say that you got accepted and then it would give you a number to call in order to get an ID number to confirm your acceptance. However the number they give you is a rejection hotline number, such as 415-228-0207. When you call it, it says that you got rejected lol. That would be so messed up, seriously kids would kill themselves.

Here is a link to the rejection hotline numbers in your area

My acceptance letter from simmons was really nice. there was a whole section that referenced my application, like where I volunteer and stuff about my essay! They actually read my application!

I was kinda disappointed in Michigan’s acceptance letter; it wasn’t bad, but pretty basic. They did send a welcome video so when you opened the decision link online it popped up, which was a very classy touch. Then they sent an email that was like “Congratulations! You have been accepted to the U. of Michigan! How does it feel to be a WOLVERINE?” and that just send chills up my spine, got me soo pumped lol.

My brother’s acceptance letter from Berkeley was amazing, it was more like a poem than a letter, it named all the sights and sounds from Berkeley, and went “This is what you’ve been waiting for, the good news: You’ve been admitted to Berkeley. the sound you hear is the world opening up at your feet. It’s the sound of conga drums, carillons, and a thousand things you’ve never known before. The sound of ideas popping, of every language and point of view. You can do it, (insert name), and you can do it here. We know you can. Please join us at Berkeley.”

ahh, that one never gets old. so unique, so Berkeley lol

Penn State’s acceptance letter was nice: it had a huge “CONGRATULATIONS” on the envelope nad then went on to say on the letter: “I am pleased to offer you admission to…Our review of your credentials has convinced us that you have the ability to meet the educational challenges at Penn State. You should be proud of your academic acheivements.”…uh, I already am! lol!

DePauw’s Acceptance letter was pretty darn cool it was in a big black envelope and it was filled with a ton of stuff they also gave me a “Certificate of Acceptance” of sorts and since they gave me a scholarship there was a certificate for that and some other stuff pretty solid

My sister got a white rose from Smith a few days after she was accepted

CMC’s was good, an unnecessary but thoughtful ego booster.
William,

Congratulations! On behalf of our Admission Committee, I am delighted to convey the news that your application to Claremont McKenna College has been accepted for the semester beginning in September, 2008. Welcome to the Class of 2012.

The selection process just completed represents the most competitive situation ever for Early Decision applicants to CMC, with an increase over last year’s record number of applicants. Because we seriously limited the number of students who were admitted at this time (the rest were postponed or denied), you should feel especially proud of yourself.

My daughter’s ex-boyfriend applied to Stanford’s PhD program last spring. First he got a letter in the mail saying he was deferred, then a day or two later he received an email saying they were sorry, that letter was a mistake and they meant to say he was rejected.

I said that I liked it before, but [here is the letter for Worcester Polytechnic Institute](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/5078825-post20.html) for anyone who is curious.

@mom of alex
*" First he got a letter in the mail saying he was deferred, then a day or two later he received an email saying they were sorry, that letter was a mistake and they meant to say he was rejected." *

That really sucks, he must have felt horrible. At least it wasn’t a “We’re sorry, your acceptance was supposed to be a rejection”…

could anyone post the rejection letters from uchicago or rice? i’m very curious

Wake Forest’s ED deferral came in a small envelope, and was fairly impersonal- something to the effect of “we don’t know enough about you yet to make a conclusive decision. Your application will be given a fair review in the regular decision pool…” Well, I hope it was given a fair review this last time??? Oh well, I kind of deferred them too in my own college decision so it all works out XD
Just waiting for the rejection letter in April; does anyone by chance know what it says?
Waiting on SMU EA, which is supposedly coming out this week.
