BIO- official post discussion

Mandizz,

Plant A requires more than 13 hours of darkness to grow. The answer was E (light at the very beginning) because even after you interrupt it for one hour, the plant still experienced a continuous 15-16 hours of growth in darkness.

I just hope theres a big curve. i think theres a better curve in may than in june since less people take it in may.

Thanks Juliana. My problem was that I didn’t realize that the second light problem (with the flash) was related to the one before it that said it needed the 13 hours. I just thought they were two completely unrelated problems.

Thats what I get for skipping around the test too much and rushing!! =(

This thing definitely needed an update.

debates:

 1. Colorblind Son genetics problem - 1/4 (prob of having colorblind son) or 1/2 (prob that their son will be colorblind)
 2. Pea plant problem - 250 (homozygous dom) or 500 (homo dom + homo rec)
 3. IAA plant control - 1,2,3 or 2,3
 4. Ape and early human - not brain cavity, smaller upper jaw?
 5. 250 yr tree population- mixed deciduous forest or beech?

Come on guys, lets try to think of some more

high correlation between bacteria and depth of soil

lactic acid in your legs…no oxygen

bacteria important for conversion of ammonia to nitrates

were the depths of the soil 0.5 and 2.0? I remember seeing those numbers having the correlation, but I can’t remember if it was for soil depth or something else

farm runoff…the only choice was increase in eutrophication. decrease wasnt a choice.

yeah they were

also you forgot actin and myosin interaction for muscle contraction

you mean decrease was a choice?

Decrease was a choice, it was letter E.

i thought the curve for may was less than the curve in june.

here’s my reasoning: the AP bio kids take it in may, the regular bio kids take it in june.

I don’t remember the “leg” part of the muscle question. Was there only one choice that said muscles resorted to lactate fermentation when depleted of oxygen?

We’ve got about 50 questions, let’s try to get the remaining 30.

yes…only one choice

was there also an increase in eutrophication choice?

Wasn’t there a question on plant reproduction or division? It may have been answered already

nails/claws. mammals/aves? i don’t know.

something led to increase in water? formation of starch, was it?
