Biology 2010 Prep

Thanks guys! That was very helpful (and made me feel a lot more confident)

lol. does anyone actually know someone who did the whole tape the bills t o the booklet thing and got away with it? *just curious, not suggesting that id do it!

does anyone have the 2008 released exam?

^ theres a thread on the ap test page [by yellow something] i dont know ull see it there. its not really free though =[ u have to trade the guy for something

lol not yellow [my bad] its yearsofwisdom

okay thank you :)

Also, do I have to get really specific for the FRQs? For some reason the sample responses with perfect 10s often seems rather vague to me

^^ no prob =]

@tracy: Nope, not really. I just simulated an actual exam; I took the 2004 released MC exam and did the 2002 FRQs, and got really decent scores. They were kinda easy, but I don’t know how they compare to other years.

Check out the CB website and look at some of the scoring guides (rubric) for some year’s FRQs and you will see that sometimes just the mention of a word will get you a point. For example, in one of my FRQs describing how meiosis reduces chromosome number, I just mentioned crossing over (I didn’t even describe it, define it, or go into detail whatsoever) and it earned a point.

lol I’m ready to wonder how can people not get a 5, with the grading so lenient

Exactly! That’s what surprised me. I was so bummed and worried as of last week, but as soon as I started taking the released exams, I was shocked at how easy they were. Then with the FRQs, they seem so hard for the first 10 seconds of looking at them but if you sit there and think to yourself, “Okay… I know this. I can pull at least SOMETHING out of my brain,” you can come up with some good stuff and earn a hefty bit of points.

The people who don’t earn 5s are the ones who don’t keep up throughout the year, don’t study, and don’t care.

Thanks SeekingUni! This really made my day. Good luck to us both tomorrow

I feel the same way about this I was really worried about the exam until I started taking the practice exams and seeing that I’m averaging around an 80% raw score. So I feel really good about the exam

When do you guys think the first answers from the exam will be discussed?

Or when do the first people take it?

Good luck tomorrow everyone!

What do you all think you will score?

I’m aiming for a 5 and things are looking good, as long as I don’t get a FRQ about something weird like protists.

Anyone care to comment on the difficulty of the CliffNotes practice test (2010-2011 edition, practice test #1)? I just took it and got a raw score of 70 on the MC and 27 on the FR. This apparently gave me a 69 overall, which the book said was on the low side for a 5. I’m a little worried…I don’t want to have to take (much, or any if possible) Bio in college.

That Cliff’s score of yours doesn’t take into account the curve, which is fairly generous. You’re fine.

I have two more Cliffs tests left. I need to review Kingdoms. AHHH

I wish I read the chapters rather than skimming the workbook for the Biology tests. lolz haha

I am ready for my 5 = D. 2 days ago I probably would have gotten a 3. I love cramming.

i cannot concentrate or study.
the test is in 15 hours!
yay depression!
