Biology 2010 Prep

Raw score means just the MC section. It’s only calculating how many you got right and subtracting 1/4th of how many you got wrong. ;)

The reason I was saying “if it’s out of 100” is because some people are taking some of the older released exams, which have 120 questions, not 100 like they do after 2004. Your raw score is different if you scale it down from 120 to 100.

oh really? that was my final score factoring in the free response. Guess I had the terminology mixed up then.

what do i need in total for a 5?

To get a five, you need a composite of at LEAST 75. I’d recommend shooting for at least 80+, just to be safe.

Here is the complete formula to calculate your score:

[MC right - (0.25 x MC wrong)] x 0.78 = MC raw
(note: the 0.78 is a guessed curve approximation; it varies from year-to-year; I’ve seen it at 0.7something and as high as 0.9something; this is just a lower curve so that you don’t overestimate)

FRQ points (40 possible) x 1.5 = FRQ score
(I’m not sure if the 1.5 is a number that changes every year like the curve, but it’s what they used on the 2002 exam: <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

MC raw + FRQ score = composite score

[AP Pass - AP Biology Calculator](AP Biology Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)

is that accurate?

Yeah, but it seems to factor in a fairly high curve of 0.9. The only time I’ve seen that high of a curve is with the 2008 exam.

whats the composite score that i need for a 5 ?

What do you guys think about the Cliffs review book? Do you think if you skim through that and take a practice test/go over answers, you’d be alright?

^That’s what I’ve been doing. Generally, I think it’s just best to do that, in addition to taking the multiple-choice quizzes at the end of each review chapter, just to assess what you know and what you really don’t.

And for the stuff I don’t know (i.e. half the book), I say SCREW IT. I didn’t learn it in several months and certainly won’t know it by tomorrow.

Sorry if my post was unhelpful. I’m just venting.

Years: At least 85, approximately.

Is cliffs generally recognized as easier/same/harder than the actual AP Test?

LOL. Harder.

Thanks guys! Let’s all kick some serious Bio arse tomorrow.

AFAIK, raw scores are not out of a 100. A raw score is one that has the curve taken into account. E.g. 90/100 x 0.* = raw.

Wow… totallyclueless, I think your name might be an accurate representation of yourself…

LOL Cliffs is harder?? Wow this wont be that bad. I was getting Bs with Cliffs.

Since nobody knows the curve, it cannot be taken into account.

Does anyone know where I could find videos on embryonic development and gastrulation…germ layers, etc. I am having trouble picturing it.

I’m hoping for a miracle tomorrow…nothing else I can do.

why don’t u try youtube?
such as [YouTube - Gastrulation](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgDdxWRHCwQ)
