Financial aid at top Us and LACs is very good, generally speaking. But your D can probably go to UF for free, right? Or is it just tuition free?
Either way, if med school is on the table that will cost a lot of money and minimizing debt - and cost - now will help a lot. While most PhDs are likely funded (not sure about the Bio situation specifically), there will probably be some cost there too. So consider that.
Lac vs U is a hotly and frequently debated topic here on CC, some really think one is better than the other for various reasons. I’m generally in the LAC camp as the focus is on undergrads and Us will be there for grad/med school. I like the attention, small classes, research opportunities, as others have already said.
