Hi all!
I am so mad I didn’t find this forum before!

Anywayz, I know this is really late but here are my stats…please let me know of my chances, etc since I still have time to apply to Unis with deadlines late Jan,etc

Research Interests: Cancer Biology
Undergrad: National University of Singapore (International Applicant-Indian citizen)
GPA: 3.87
GRE Scores: Q-780, V-680, AWA-4.5
Research Exp: 2 years, 4 different projects:
- Related to Neuronal cell growth/death, Alzheimer’s Disease: had to mainly perform gene expression profiling using microarray

- 1 year research project on regulation cFLIP promoter activity by free radicals in cancer cells
- Current Final year project in same lab as previous: Studying effect of novel small molecules/cancer drugs on the PI3K pathway.

LoRs: From the 3 PI’s, 2 of them will be fine (from my current prof and the first project), 3rd one I hope is ok, didnt directly interact with that prof much, worked with post-doc mostly.

Publications: None (sniff!) …I might get one by end of my final year project since things seem to be going ok but nothing I can mention in apps :(

Problems: International applicant, no publications

Applied to:

UCSF (damn hard for internationals I know but these 2-3 ppl working on exactly what I want! so gave it a shot)
UPenn
Sloan-Kettering
NYU Sackler
UPitt
Wisconsin
Hopkins CMM

I know they are mostly very good unis and that being an international student with no pubs its gonna be damn hard…any suggestions for other unis that might be safer options? I had a couple in mind like Purdue or Utah…

Please give suggestions/comments! Thanks a lot!
