Black Friday Sales

I heard about those on the Elvis Duran Morning Show!

A funny n story on the “touchscreen” gloves. I have a pair of the Isotoners I bought a couple of years ago.

Today I was at Walmart (ugh, our store is AWFUL!) and wanted to pick up a few pair of those cheap stretchy $1 gloves - D and I like to grab a pair when we are going the dog out for a walk and they seek to get lost so I just buy a few cheap pair each year. I noticed one style they had today was the stretchy gloves, but they claimed to have “touchscreen tips” - for 1.50???! D tried a pair on her doggie walk this evening and said they worked fine ! Haha - for $1.50!!!

While not necessarily just a Black Friday deal, one of the jewelers in our county has started a big promotion, starting Black Friday and running through Dec. 24th. If it snows 3" or more on New Year’s Day, all purchases made on those dates will be free. And yes, they did purchase insurance!

I second this recommendation. I am pretty sure on Monday they will also have additional 10% code out.

We had Thanksgiving at my house and after dinner my mom started to go through my shoe closet to see if she could talk me into giving anything up. Every pair of shoes she picked was bought at 6pm and at great discounts (That is why I have so many).

My personal favorite is Frye shoes. You have to pick the right time to buy, because 6pm has dynamic pricing. But if you are patient and are willing to let something get sold out, you can score amazing deals. For example, my recent purchase included Frye boots at $87. Original price was $348.

My girls spent what felt like half the weekend searching 6pm for boots - d1 ended up buying a pair this afternoon cause they showed only one pair left inner size so,she didn’t want to risk waiting till tomorrow.

I love 6pm !

Teriwtt…one of our jewelry stores does the same…but you gotta read the fine print. Our store picked a three inch snowfall in a town near the CT shore…which seldom gets snow that sticks! They did NOT pick the Litchfield hills where the likelihood is higher of snow!

Our Target had the touchscreen gloves. I can’t remember the exact price but I’m pretty sure it was < $28! I live in the South though where gloves aren’t really a necessity.

^yes, you can get cheaper touchscreen gloves. They’re usually the cheaper fleece models.
The ones I ordered were Isotoner Leather touchscreen gloves. Target brand fleece/knit touchscreen gloves and similar big box stores fleece/knit touchscreen gloves are not expensive at all.

Anyone considering a Kindle Fire- Amazon has posted their cyber Monday specials $50 off select models.

greenwitch - My feet are also wide and flat so I will definitely look into Clarks. I usually live in skater type sneakers because they’re pretty much the only shoes that are comfortable. Also, I’ve never had luck finding heels or flats without straps that my heels don’t slip out of.

BunsenBurner - Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have to try on some shoes to get an idea of what my size range is in certain brands. It does seem to vary a lot.

^try Born brand shoes/boots too

Ah, sorry, I didn’t know leather was a requirement. The ones I thought were cute were Isotoner, but they were some type of fabric that looked like leopard print :-). Checked the website they were $19.99

Costco has HEAD tech touch gloves for $10.

Yup, here is one style:

They also have leather tech touch gloves for $30 (at least they had them at my local store last week).

There are many kinds. I tried the $10 at Costco & they worked but even the xs were a little long on my fingers.
I really need kids gloves.
I think I am going to try the Outdoor Research gloves from the Clymb.

There might have been a time when working conditions required a balancing force, but current large corporations serve only one purpose, and it is the parasitical self-preservation of its power and benefits for an inner circle and its large investors.

Mini…

Most, maybe nearly all, businesses exist to make profits…usually as much profit as they legally can to enrich the owners, stockholders, etc. For some, maybe running their businesses is a fun hobby or pasttime. For most, it’s to make as much money as they can.

I have worked for Fortune 500 companies as well as small family-owned operations. They all wanted to make as much as they could. In some ways, the small family owned operations were a bit more ruthless with employees…maybe because there was no HR dept to keep things in check.

Of course some companies are a tad top heavy.

S brought H some gloves he bought at Costco. They were nice leather with wool lining and touch fingers. He also gave him another pair of gloves from Costco that was touch all fingers as well that is supposed to be a liner, but should work fine with the places we travel. A bonus is the gloves fit me too. :)

Going to have to check my Costco for those HEAD gloves - whereabouts in the store did you find them??? Near socks and stuff like that???
