Hope you are right wgmcp, but this doesn’t necessarily follow logically. Already it seems as though there have been “copycats,” and now everyone knows it just takes one sick ticket to upset the lives of a whole campus of students.
Hope my son chooses Pitt, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about the situation. He necessarily will need good grades both for full-tuition scholarship retention and for (he hopes) professional school, and who needs a distraction like this, with accompanying lack of sleep, during finals? In the back of my mind, I wonder: what if in three years this happened to his dorm the night before the MCAT?
My heart goes out to the Pitt students, who seem to be handling it well-- some even with heroic generosity (offers of couch surfing). I also feel for the administration, who seem to be handling as best they can.
Hope they find the perp soon. That would be satisfying for everyone.
