well I applied regular decision to Boston College because it wasn’t number one on my list. Number 1 on my list was Boston University, number 2 was Northeastern, Boston College was number 3. I applied early decision to Boston University. My weighted GPA right now is 4.3 because Junior Year went horribly. Pre Calculus killed me. So now I’m like 28th in my class when I should be top 10. I’m still kinda mad about it.

unless your teachers hate you and your essay is about ax murderers, your ED acceptance to BU is as close to a sure thing as can be found on cc. Best wishes to you. (I hope the ED app didn’t cost you possible merit money.)

yes, as a high stat, hooked candidate, your chances of admissions to most colleges is excellent. But your binding ED app is of concern since you need $$ to attend (from your other post below). I do not believe that BU meets full financial need and it is never a good idea to apply binding ED to a college that does not meet full need.

Your GC is correct. The Ivies have the absolute best need-based only aid programs. While you may be competitive for a merit scholly from BU, your attractiveness to them declines with the binding ED app. Since ED is binding, they don’t need to offer you merit money to entice you to attend. (Of course, if they offer a bunch of loans in the finaid package, you are free to reject their offer of ED admission.)

Applying broadly is a great strategy for seeking aid. Applying ED is NOT.

hmm, now that’s interesting because I thought just the opposite for some reason. Like I thought if I applied early decision they would be more likely to supply me financially. Well at any rate I think I did read on the common application early decision agreement that if they don’t meet my full financial need then I don’t have to go there, so there’s always that. I know that in order to go to any college I’m basically going to need everything paid for(Tuition, room, board). I don’t mind if it involved loans. I wish it didn’t but if that’s what has to happen then I can’t object. I’m so desperate to just go to college somewhere.

as much as i love you guys giving advice to each other and helping you out, can i please request you to discuss on another forum? i was really excited to see if anybody gave me feedback on my colleges, and i opened this thread to see…chances of other students? shacoria, i looked at your threads; do you have a chancing thread of your own?

your welcome!! yes, make your own, so i could chance you back with detailed statistics!! i just got an official drexel acceptance letter (i got notified through e-mail before only), and also got a dean’s scholarship ($18,000). do you happen to know if they give many of these?

Funny enough I got a Dean’s Scholarship too from Drexel. Mine was for 15,000 dollars. I still haven’t gotten an actual acceptance letter but I saw my decision online.

the letter came about 2 weeks after i saw the decision online, so no worries, it’ll come soon! as for the dean’s scholarship, how did you see it online? i didn’t see anything…
also, do you know if many dean’s scholarships are given out at drexel?

I assume that not many Deans Scholarships are given out there because I wouldn’t consider Drexel a very wealthy school that they could just hand out scholarships like that to everyone. But you can see your scholarships online. When I log into the website I just scroll over to the left and it’s right there.
