Boston University ED Class of 2023

@1231dasdsad might not be entirely true. I had “our records… ED” until sometime this afternoon when it changed to “thank you”. They might have already finished decisions but are still putting in the thank yous and such. BUT AGAIN absolutely nothing in this thread has proven to be reliable so I probably don’t know what I’m talking about

TBH, I really do not think the “thank you” message means anything. There is no way for a university to give you a hint before the actual ed notifications.

Also, the login website says it is Dec. 15th. So just wait.

Last year and the year befores thread almost everyone one with the thank you in ed 1 got in at least on cc and with some people’s at our records without ed it has to mean something they wouldn’t just give people different messages but yeah we have to wait til they come out to know for sure

Our records indicate that you have applied to the College of Communication for the September 2019 semester. If this information is not correct, or if you would like to change the college or school of application, please call BU Admissions during regular business hours.
This is the message I got. It originally included the words early decision in it but now it does not.

I emailed and also called admissions about the wording on the portal, and both told me it means nothing.

it’s under “Recommenders and FERPA”. Check the parent ED agreement.

@soccer4emd Check the parent ED agreement. The counselor ED was always downloaded.

They can’t outright say that last year someone called about it and they said the same thing

does it really mean anything if it says downloaded vs submitted? Mine says downloaded but I’ve never heard before that it matters what it says

@nervous2023applicant13344 @esal1234 right now it seems everybody’s parent ED agreement is still submitted. but if you ask others who EDed other schools, it’s always downloaded. That’s why there’s the bug with BU admission - closer to the release date, the admitted will be downloaded.

I have submitted in October 27th but for people that have downloaded like nov 1st there’s no way that can be correlated to a decision.

wait so does anybody’s parent ED agreement say downloaded?

i’ve asked people who have been admitted ed to other schools and they did not have their parent agreement downloaded. It means nothing.

omg this submitted v. downloaded thing is freaking me out. has this been a trend in the past years?

@imsonervouss I honestly don’t think it means anything. I think we are all so nervous and anxious that we are starting to look into things way too much.

speculation: but i think the message means something. (the ty vs our records) why else would people have 2 different messages? as i said 84523049829408 pages ago, i think the messages help differentiate between the groups (admitted vs the deferred/rD pool)

I think it would be best if we would just wait for the decision before making any assumptions

I really don’t think the downloaded vs. submitted agreement means anything, especially since the date that mine was downloaded is the day I submitted my application. However, I truly believe the two portal messages do mean something, otherwise, why would different applicants get different messages? But, like I said earlier, take this with a grain of salt, just sharing my understanding of it all.

“Our records indicate you have applied to [insert college here] as an Early Decision candidate.”
This is the basic message. You get this message no matter what initially.

The next two messages are what your portal could later change to:
“Thank you for applying to [insert college here] as an Early Decision candidate.”
This message includes Early Decision and in the past, it has correlated with acceptance.

This next message is entirely different from the first:
Our records indicate you have applied to [insert college here] for the [upcoming school year]."
In the past, this message has been correlated with being deferred or straight up denied.

Speaking from experience, my bf applied to BU regular decision last year and his message was the message that correlated with being denied. And yes, he was denied. However, one of my friends decided to ED to BU last year, and he had the “thank you” message and he ultimately attends BU now.

Guys LOL, we’re 127 pages into this thread. Don’t stress yourselves out over a couple words anymore, you know? I’ve seen practically the same messages on here a thousand times already.
The admissions office is closed on weekends. Let’s assume it is, in fact, coming out Friday. That’s about 38-40 hours. Get some rest, get your work done lol.

My message says “Our records indicate that …an Early Decision candidate for the September 2019 semester”. Has both ED and the date… what does that mean? Any thoughts?
