Bowdoin ED Class of 2024

Sorry to hear this…has your D spoken to the coach about what happened?

Sorry, @windnsea, to hear of your D’s treatment in the Bowdoin’s admissions process. Did the track coach say that he was assigning a tip to her application? Saying that her application was “competitive” is not the same as guaranteeing admissions. Coaches and NESCAC schools need to be a lot clearer and more forthright with applicants and their parents as to what the magic words are for assuring acceptance through the ED process for tipped athletes so applicants are not misled as the usefulness of going through the ED process. .

@windnsea having the coach look at transcripts and saying a student is competitive and then suggesting she apply in ED is not the same as telling her he’s supporting her.

Our son runs at Bowdoin. I PM’d you details about his communication with the coach before he applied. Was told his stats were “stellar” but was never told he had a spot. We understood that meant he had to get in on his own. He applied RD and got in.

I’m sorry this happened to your D. From the little you’ve shared, it seems there was miscommunication.

@windnsea Was a pre read done by admissions?
