Bra Strap Injury?

This thread made me laugh out loud. I was two pages into it before I realized how old it is.

I have an embarrassingly large bra drawer. Bras are almost as bad as shoes, except that my feet have never, even when pregnant in northern Florida in July, changed size.

But the girls, well, they are the first to gain and the last to lose weight. I have a variety of bra sizes, colors, configurations… Black, white, nude, colorful, racer back, strapless, sexy, utilitarian, very thin, very thick, jogging, 34B, 34C, 34D, 36D…

I have a couple of bras that probably would have caused the same issues the OP brought up, except they hurt my shoulder so much after an hour or so, that I couldn’t wear them long enough to cause damage.

VeryHappy,
I can answer your question. I checked out the Champion sports bras on the website you listed. They look very nice, but not one comes in my size. I do buy my bras (including my sports bra) at a ‘expensive bra shop’ because they carry bras in my size. Yes, the sports bra I bought there was quite expensive - about double the prices I saw on onehanesplace.com - but it fits me correctly.

Champion simply does not sell bras in my size. Perhaps they do not think that a person who needs a 32" bra could be larger than a D/DD. I’ve not been a D cup since middle school! Wish I was that small again because it would save me a fortune in bras!

Okay, since this has become a true confessions arena…I am very well versed at taking off the offending undergarment without removing any of the over garments…I can pull an under wire offender out of a sleeve (after disengaging it from other body parts) and slip it into a purse all the while carrying on a dinner conversation - I will admit previous alcohol consumption and dimmed lighting help this particular endeavor.

This conversation is hilarious. Protruding nipples are not exclusive to large breasts, unfortunately (for me, anyway.) There is a saying (not really sure that it qualifies as a saying exactly…but, you know what I mean) “You either have erasers or gumdrops.”

Unfortunately, some of us who are not well-endowed with breast tissue, do have gum drops. For some reason, they (the gumdrops) are considered obscene. I don’t quite get why we need to wear a bra in our own home under our pajamas. Sorry. …I’m not going to do it. Look away, if you must. I.have.nipples.

Band Aides are a highly underrated ‘nipple’ solutions…and then there is …google ‘breast lift tape’. Most of the videos require you to sign in due to content.

Put those girls back where they started from!

This is a funny conversation. Dietz, I remember pulling mine off without removing my tshirt once while I was driving down I5 through central California with my mother in the back seat. She was dumbfounded when I handed it back to her and asked her to put it in my bag. “Where did this come from?”
I’m small chested but have never found a comfortable “regular” bra. I wear cheap Target Champion brand running bras for excercise. They are verycomfortable but very unflattering.

Love CC, very funny and informative who could ask for anything more, breast lift tape here I come lol

Totally agree! I have NEVER found a bra that is comfortable! I hate how they constrict my breathing and I feel suffocated. I am a 36b or 38 A/b, and if I had my way, I would go braless all the time. I don’t feel relaxed until I have reached home and ripped that sucker off!

Well fellow ‘girl’ owners. …I think we have us enough fuel for a good old 1960’s bra burning…I’ll bring the Cabernet…Hmmm…wonder if it requires an EPA certified burn permit given all the stuff that’s put into fabric these days…

LOL, there is nothing like a good old bra burning party! :D

I used to hate them, too, until I discovered Cantelle and then Marie Jo. $$$, but so worth it!

I think that is something I have worried about…glad you gort out of it!

I have been careful not to let my straps work their way back into the little groove on my shoulders again. I have a slightly wider strap now. Thrilled to report no more pain.
I did ice the spot and take ibuprofen as you gals recommended. I stopped wearing the thing that damaged the nerve and cut off the circulation in the first place!!!
Yay! It healed in a few weeks and actually stopped hurting fairly soon.

Thanks for all the laughs and intimate details that we all need to hear from time to time
in order to continue in our role as females!! Kudos for sharing!

Btw, since you bought these bras at Nordstroms, return them for a refund! I bet you’ll get your $ back, or at the very least, a gift card. Nordstroms is famous for their policies. Try it! And post back here, please, let us know the result.
oops- I just saw the original date of this thread. Well, who knows, years later you still might luck out!

I’m very small and don’t sag so I wear tank tee’s under almost everything. If tee doesn’t work I have nipple covers.

If I need more shape, I have two one size fits all bras (one white, one beige) that have removable pads inside.

I have also perfected the remove bra anywhere move without anyone noticing. I can do it no matter how many layers I have on top.

I don’t care if my son sees me around the house with no bra on.

LOL, cc is really strolling down memory/mammory lane in several threads today.

Norstrom’s fitter told me I was wearing the wrong size (possibly I have changed sizes over the years, especially after nursing two kids and now after menopause). I thought I had found great bras & the good thing is that they generally are pretty comfortable. Because I am generally a D cup, don’t feel comfortable about going around w/o a bra anywhere outside our home. Have never liked racerbacks, but may give them a try again.

Have had problems with shoulder pain bursitis from time to time, often related to taking antibioitic Avelox and carrying too much on the shoulder (need to keep purses light, so have them VERY SMALL).

Glad to hear the pain and shoulder damage has resolved over these past 3 years. If I was getting shoulder & back pain from my endowments, would definitely consider getting breast reduction surgery, but fortunately well-size undergarments seem to be OK for me. Nordstrom’s Rack has some high quality bras at amazing prices. Ross has a few as well, but you really have to search.

How did I miss this thread the first time around?

I notice there seems to be a very worried attitude about nipples, and yet all humans have them… I am really uncomfortable in any and all bras (and yes, I’ve tried pretty much everything) so I usually wear a tank or t-shirt under anything… but my daughter tells me it’s still obvious I’m not wearing a bra. (I’m a 36B when I do have to wear a bra, which I do once a year, maybe.)

(Of course, I’m also what Caitlin Moran calls a “strident feminist.”)

So my question is: how big a deal is it that I have nipples and occasionally it’s obvious? I live in Portland, OR (home of tattoos and bicycles) and I am an owner, not an employee. Should I even care what people think? I don’t want to think I’m horrifying people.
