<p>The issue in Texas is that the state has mandated that a female body has to remain on artificial support if pregnant. Period. Just like in China prior to the reversal of the One Child policy, the state conducted about 13 million forced abortions a year.</p>

<p>To me, I do not think the state ought to be involved in compelling the continuation of artificial support on the basis of greater good (e.g., possible survival of a fetus). Too slippery a slope. The state in China thought the “greater good” was fewer births and, ta-da, state forced abortions. Just like state ordered sterilizations in the US.</p>

<p>@TatinG - I’m thinking those tests were the same ones they did on all 3 of my kids and they said all three had a high chance of Downs syndrome. All three are gifted. Doctors definitely don’t know everything.</p>
