I’m so sick of people seeing a minority/female get accepted to X University over white/male and assuming both applicants were equal in EVERYTHING. Firstly, it’s very unlikely, if not impossible, that someone would know EVERYTHING about both applicants (that means stats, recs, ssr, essays, hobbies, indulgences, financial comfort, home life, special circumstances and then some). Even if, by some slight chance, that each person is identical, they probably wouldn’t present themselves through their application in the same way. how DARE someone see one person accepted “over” another (which doesn’t happen since every app is seen holistically) and assume that it’s because of minority status?
