Here’s a good site by American Society of Plastic Surgeons that covers the issue pretty thoroughly. It includes information like the questions to ask the surgeon, getting insurance coverage, and even includes a video.

My surgery was also outpatient. Honestly, of all the surgeries I’ve had, this one was the easiest. I think because it’s very superficial…they don’t have to go into ‘organ’ territory. I don’t think it would be have been a problem to stay by myself. I did sleep in a recliner for the first few nights but the pain was minimal.

In terms of size - there’s only so much they can do. You can’t take a G to a B cup. I was at least an EE and ended up at a C. I was very happy with it. I’m 5’3". Really relieved my back and neck strain. My insurance did pay for it.

The only issue I have ever had is one of my breast feels ‘full’ at times and achy like PMS (I had the reduction 10 years ago). This is a result of scar tissue - apparently very, very common though no one mentioned it as a risk at the time. Even so, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Best thing I ever did for myself.

At my facility, we do this with local anesthesia, IV sedation, and propofol. No mechanical ventilation needed, so the recovery is much less in terms of anesthesia.
