Bright Futures funding is cloudy

The Legislature included $180 million in the state budget to cover the additional benefits – money that is still there despite the veto. Students will get it for both semesters of the 2017-2018 school year, according to the Department of Education.

“There is zero uncertainty as to whether students will receive these benefits. They will,” said DOE spokeswoman Meghan Collins. “We are simply determining the process.”
