Where did anyone here say Bristol was dumb? Heck, she earned over a quarter million just from this organization alone. Heaven knows how much she got from Dancing with the Stars on top of this. Sounds pretty smart, not dumb. She is not dumb, she is uneducated. There is a difference.

The Candies Foundation has already released a PR spin to address this issue. But take a closer look at the 3 articles listed in the left-hand column of the pg. http://www.candiesfoundation.org/ The first is the response to the Bristol payment (where they state that surveys have shown that teens have responded positively in higher numbers to the Bristol and Bristol/“The Situation” promos than to some other, unnamed PSAs. It would be helpful to know what they are comparing but they don’t disclose that info). Interestingly, right below the Bristol response is a link to an article saying that Congress is looking to shift money away from the abstinence-only message to more comprehensive sex ed, stating
, followed by a third article about the possible stripping of federal funding to Planned Parenthood. They also indicate that they have worked with many celebrity partners to open a dialogue about teen pregnancy [the candie’s foundation](Home - Candies Foundation) It would be interesting to see if their tax records shared how much these celebrities were reimbursed for their involvement, but so far I am not finding a link to a copy of their tax returns on their website.

My first thought when I heard this was to hope she banked most of it, because her 15 minutes of fame is nearly up. Wonder what she will be doing in 10 years to support her son; I doubt it will still be abstinence speaking engagements. The purchase of the Arizona house seems very odd to me… it is a long way from her family and support system in Alaska. I don’t begrudge her the money; if people want to stare and pay for the privilege, then I don’t see why she shouldn’t collect on it. But it is not usually a long term career strategy – at least, I don’t think it will be for her.

Apologies to hayden-- I misspoke earlier and credited cartera for hitting the nail on the head. It was hayden’s post # 17 that was being referenced.

Would anyone else like to share their thoughts on what Bristol Palin, a young lady who none of us has ever met, have any relation too or share any financial interest with, should do with her life?

Her mother is a former Vice Presidential Nominee, millionarie and one of the most influential people in our country (whether we like it or not), I seriously doubt Bristols financial future or the well-being of her son is in any jeopardy.

My suggestion: Culinary School.

The outpouring of concern about her future is remarkable.

It is my assumption that she got her pay as in installments thru a trust of some sort. Pay perhaps is funnelled thru child thus avoiding even more tax. The assumption that this compensation will be very tax efficient.

I don’t care where they’re from. I actually think that Bristol was taking money under false pretenses. Yeah. Unless I see her gynecological records I’ll never believe she gave birth to that baby.

I tried not to read this thread, really I did…I knew it would be annoying…couldn’t resist.
Quote:(regarding donating the funds)
Oh wait… she doesnt have an alma mater

Sure she does. I’m pretty sure she graduated from junior high school. They could use a donation.

As annoying as it all is, we can only blame ourselves, the American people, for our love of sensational garbage.

lol, sewhappy. Typed in her name and the state into search engine and all sorts of articles and links and such pop up. Lots and LOTS and LOTS. And this is exactly what the Candies Corp wants. Celebrity.

Besides, I have family near there. I might need a place to stay… And maybe she needs a babysitter.

I don’t care how much money Bristol makes. She has to make money based on her skill set and I’m happy for her that she can live out from under a mother who pimped out the entire family for personal gain. The way the foundation spends its money should be questioned. Candies made a statement on its website

LOL, govaffairs- you are just jealous. Maybe you and Bristol should both follow your suggestion to go to culinary school since you enjoy adding excess seasoning when cooking up stories and creating half-baked ideas. I get it-- your posts aren’t meant to bait people, they’re meant to baste people.
