Broadway Shows in NYC

Lots of help -everyone - thank you. Many good ideas, and at least a list.

They are 20/16 - not really musical, artsy kids … but will enjoy the spectacle. We have seen Wicked and will see Lion King on tour. Loved Wicked.

Thank you again!

By the way - BOM tickets are available on their website - it’s just the premium tickets only - about $350 each. Really didn’t want to drop $1K for show tickets! They were available for several shows, but the lower dollar seats are sold out.

Apparently you can also sign up for a lottery each day for tickets too - info on their website.

One more question - what is appropriate attire for a Broadway show in July? And it’s hot outside - cool inside? As in bring a sweater or wrap?

thanks.

I am often cold in the theater and bring a sweater. It’s not necessary to dress up.

Very casual attire is ok in July - shorts and a teeshirt is fine for the boysIMHO.
Memphis is a lively show and you should be able to get 1/2 price tickets at TKTS. You can preview it on netflix.

Thank you!

ANOTHER vote for Memphis. Husband is not a real artsy kind of guy but he really liked Memphis.

I saw Spiderman before it was revamped and it would take a LOT of revamping to make it worthwhile.

A 3rd vote for Memphis. Two years ago I took my two sons (then ages 18 & 22) to Memphis. They were blown away by both the music and the story.

We did go to Spiderman - older son did not enjoy that much, younger son really liked it. I enjoyed it. Good spectacle. I think my older son figured out he’s not that crazy about musicals! We also went to War Horse - excellent production. We all loved it.

Bought tickets to both at theTKTS booth that day. Spiderman was 40% off - orchestra side. War Horse same - but 60% off. Highly recommend the TKTS app to track what is available the week before you get there to determine what shows might be available that you would enjoy. Also on our list was Peter and the Skycatcher and One Man, Two Guvernors. My son also wanted to see Streetcar Named Desire.

Thanks for all the help - we had a nice time.
