Just to address a factual point adverted to above: Brock Turner does not appear in the records of those who have ever had a case in the California Supreme Court. https://appellatecases.courtinfo.ca.gov/search.cfm?dist=0
Well, so much for the accuracy of the records!
Awesome a “Daily Mail” link. Just you couldn’t find the one from the National Enquirer or the Sun
Brock Turner lost his appeal and must register as a sex offender for life:
Victim of Brock Turner reveals her name and is releasing memoir:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/04/books/chanel-miller-brock-turner-assault-stanford.html
She is an impressive woman, and from what I’ve seen so far, a really good writer. I am so impressed with her strength.
“On Tuesday, Multhaup said the jury lacked “sufficient evidence to support three convictions,” in part because Turner had been pursuing “outercourse” with his victim—or sexual contact with someone who was fully clothed.
The panel of judges met his arguments with skepticism.”
I wonder how much his daddy had to pay that lawyer to say something that stupid in public.
Puh-leese.
What are you responding to?
Check out this new story about a sympathetic judge:
This is interesting – Judge Persky, who was recalled from the bench after giving Brock the lenient sentence, was hired by a HS to be the JV girls’ tennis coach. Latest reports are that he either resigned or was fired after community outcry.
Shaking my head. Hired as the GIRLS’ coach?
that’s crazy, why would the former Judge try and work at a very academically prominent HS only a few miles away from Stanford? He should try and seek employment in another state.
Did anyone see the 60 Minutes story on the victim? https://www.cbsnews.com/video/chanel-miller-the-full-60-minutes-report-on-the-know-my-name-author-and-brock-turner-sexual-assault-survivor-2019-09-22/
Very compelling. I was in tears.
Yes, I saw the segment on 60 Minutes. What an intelligent, eloquent young woman. I feel for her, in her continuing healing from the terrible experience of being raped.
@MaineLonghorn I saw it as well. What a horror to live through.
Somewhat related, watch “Unbelievable” on Netflix. We have a long way to go in helping victims of sexual assault.
I love her. I wish I could hug her.
DH happened to walk though the room while the segment was on. “Wow, she’s an intelligent young woman. I’d hate to go up against her!”
Every parent should read this book and every son and daughter should read it, too. Chanel Miller is the definition of strength. I was disgusted by Brock Turner and his family when this was in the news and after reading this book, that disgust has grown exponentially. There was clear DNA evidence and he was CAUGHT doing this, yet his parents still protected their predator son. Thank GOD for those 2 Swedish exchange students who were obviously raised well. Seeing a passed out woman does not give you a hall pass to sexually assault her, outside, behind a dumpster. And having that happen to you is not your fault and you should not feel like YOU’RE the one on trial as Chanel was made to feel. We need to raise better boys. Things need to change. SO glad his appeal was denied and that horrible judge was recalled.
I binge-watched “Unbelievable” yesterday. Another show that had me in tears. Because the detectives who investigated the first assault were so incompetent and didn’t believe the victim, the rapist when on to rape quite a few other women.
