Do you think its ok to wear nice ( not ripped, not old) jeans to an alum interview? I don’t really have any other nice pants right now. Except suit pants and I think wearing a suit is too much. Any fashionistas out there? Of course we all know my acceptance depends on how I loooook…

What kind of setting is your interview in? If you’re in a casual coffee shop, then I’d say jeans are ok if you’re wearing a good shirt/sweater with them and nice shoes (not sneakers). If you’re in your interviewer’s office or somewhere nicer, then a good pair of pants or khakis might be warranted. Or a skirt, if you’re female.

@lexieam your post is really helpful!

I wore (and I’m a boy):
khakis, button up (not a dressy one, but one of those A&F ones), and Sperry’s. Just wear something you’d feel comfortable walking in around town that isn’t sloppy.

Unless, of course, he invites you to his office… My interview was at the guy’s house, so it was a bit more laid back.

I agree krislu, thank you lexieam!!!

Thanks. Yeah, its at her house and she seems chill. I will wear a button down shirt and nice sweater. Is there a secret handshake? A password? Im grasping at straws here…

Just talk about what you’re interested in. Interviews all go differently, and different interviewers have different styles. If you haven’t already, read the stickied post about Brown interviews - I remember it being very useful for me.

Thanks, bruno14. Nice of you to share your experience. I see you are PLME and music. Wow. I am strongly considering premed, but want the freedom to pursue my social action passions, and also my piano, either of which may take me in a different direction, or at least a more crooked path…But Im guessing you are loving Brown for all that it offers in the areas of interest we share? ( Not that Im going to get in, but a guy can dream…)

Anyone of you has not received Brown account yet? I havent received anything… a little bit anxious because I submitted my application 1 hour late. I did email my admission officer to apologize and ask whether my application was accepted and he said yes. Should I worry about this?

Hey Lucazzz, this is from Brown’s website.

The Early Decision review process is underway. Early Decision applicants have all been emailed their login information - if you have not received yours please call Computing Accounts & Passwords at (401) 863-4357, opt 1.

Updated: 11/9/2011

Did you check your other folders (eg. spam) just in case it’s there?

I will call when people there get up. Thank you very much!

Yes, applicants, PLEASE check that your e-mail address as listed in your Brown account is one that will allow “unknown” addresses in, or check the spam box regularly. Twice in the past few years since everything has gone to e-mail, I have had the dickens of a time getting hold of a student for an interview due to just that problem. Once it was due to the student using their school account, forwarded to their personal account and it did not forward unknown addresses, and the other was an incorrect account. (in one of these I ended up making in international phone call finally to get to the student.)

24 more days!!! :)

Cannot wait omg

It’s so hard.

The waiting sucks the most! I really hope I don’t get deferred! That means 3 more months of waiting! Grrr! :(

Did you have your interview yet?

agh. I don’t know how I’d handle a deferral…

I really want to get accepted.

Hey guys,
I applied ED to Brown, and I was wondering if Brown requires first quarter grades? My school guidance department has been talking about it, and I was looking at the website to see if it was required, but it only talked about Mid-year reports. Should I ask my guidance counselor to send my first quarter grades?
