Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

@mhop72 Maybe they give u the financial aid award many days after u get accepted, so they may ask for it after u find out the acceptance?

@pz1818 still hopeful for Tufts. If not (knocking on wood) then I guess Northeastern.

You guys will be fine! I am part of Class of 2018! Hopefully you guys will all choose us over Penn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Duke, Berkeley, and UT Austin like I did!!

@Jessey010 i think you got me confused with @MaybeHarvard2022

Does the "Upload Materials’ box (for uploading supplementary materials) still appear for everyone?

Guys let’s answer if we still have the upload Materials box and if Brown requested our IDOCs to maybe determine our acceptance?

Here’s my status:

Upload box - YES (bad sign?)
IDOCs request - NO :frowning:

Yes it does @cliffhanger2018 (i also received a likely)

Thank you, @MaybeHarvard2022!

@cliffhanger2018 @MaybeHarvard2022 did brown request IDOC from you guys??? reddit is speculating that it correlates with acceptance

People who haven’t applied for FA can’t speculate anything right? xD

I’m really worried that Reddit may be correct…Brown didn’t request IDOC from me…guess I’m rejected

@lananasneparlepas Financial aid does NOT correlate with acceptance. Brown is a need-blind school. Whether you have your financial aid documents or not, that does not impact your decision.

@myskoolcool It doesn’t make sense that Brown is updating/uploading certain docs from IDOC and w2s VeRY RECENTLY according to users on this thread, Reddit, and Brown 2021 Discussion Thread. And the people who didn’t get them requested on the 2021 thread got rejected or waitlisted…Like Brown would only request IDOC and further financial information for people who aren’t flat out rejected because they probably can’t make financial packages until they determine who is accepted (this is a policy at Dartmouth, I believe)

@lananasneparlepas Brown has been on my IDOC list since January. So i don’t think it has to do anything with admissions.

in my IDOC portal under ā€œInstitutions Requesting Documents,ā€ Brown is one.

@MaybeHarvard2022 @Harvard2022maybe looks like this is a good sign then!

At the same time, I am still of the opinion this does not mean anything and everyone is over-speculating. We’ll find out in 33 hrs.

Isn’t it true that other institutions can see IDOC once another college requests it? My Brown portal shows all of the IDOC documents (2016 federal income tax returns, W-2, etc), and I was one of the people who had further financial aid info requested, but I think the only schools requesting documents for me on IDOC are UPenn and UChicago. I’m not 100% clear on how the financial stuff works, but they were obviously considering my financial profile even without IDOC, so I’m not sure that alone should mean anything. Moreover, I was waitlisted from Chicago (requested) and accepted to Hopkins (not requested), so I think that should be evidence enough that this doesn’t mean anything.

I thought it was established that anything said on Reddit should be taken with a grain of salt. lol

I have no IDOC docs on my portal :frowning:

Hopkins (accepted) and Duke (still waiting lmao) and Rice (accepted) requested for my items through – my EFC is lower than the cost of attendance at those places, but my EFC is a bit close to cost of attendance of Brown, maybe that’s a factor? Like they saw my CSS and were like ā€œnah famā€ā€¦idk in the end. Reddit is making me super anxious.
