Brown Class of 2023 Applicants Discussion

@musemuse If you don’t want to go, then I agree, don’t apply. However, depending on your criteria (for example, location: are you looking everywhere in the country? Outside of the US? Just coasts?), I think you can find a lot more than just four colleges you would genuinely like to go to. There are a LOT of colleges out there, and (speaking from experience) if you research with an open mind, you’ll find some surprisingly lovely schools  Of course, knowing that you’ve gotten into UOregon will limit your list (no point applying to schools you like even a little less)! Congrats, BTW.

It IS a little late to add schools, especially because your teachers/school probably won’t be able to send stuff before New Year’s, but there are schools whose deadlines are later (I know there are some Jan 10th, I think there were a few that are Jan 15th). I have a pretty large list (nineteen schools, I believe?) but I only truly finished researching and adding last Monday (because my school said they weren’t going to send to more schools after that).

BOTTOM LINE, four might not be too little, and those are wonderful schools, but you should try to search for more schools. I’m assuming your apps are mostly, if not completely, done. Spending a good number of hours (even a full day) just researching might be worth it—you never know, maybe one of those colleges will be the perfect fit, the one that you end up going to and loving.
