looking at last year’s thread, it appears that applicants’ checklists disappeared on Monday, April 29th, and then they received their decisions on Thursday, May 2nd. If this year follows that, then I’d assume we’ll get decisions pretty dang soon.
However, the other thing to keep in mind is that applicants also appear to have gotten an email that told them that decisions would be released soon, which I don’t think any of us have received. It may be a sign, though, to have a different portal now.
Got into Berkeley, now just gotta wait to hear from Brown and USC before i decide.
I just got into NYU with 2 weeks to make a decision, so hopefully Brown decisions are before the first (although unlikely going off of past application cycles)
me too! Got into Berkeley, but I’m waiting on 8 more schools (USC, Brown, Penn, Stanford, Cornell, UC LA/SD/SB)
Congrats on the admission to Berkeley tho!
Ya, i applied to Vandy, Cornell, NYU, UC LA/SD/SB/I as well, but my preference is brown>usc>berkeley> the rest, so now just gotta wait for those other two!
I hope you get in!!
Me too! Got into UMich but still waiting on Cornell/Brown/USC/Northwestern… Hope we all get in!
@quarantine1234 Yeah, my option to withdraw is gone from the portal. that’s the only thing that’s changed tho.
Congratulations @yjliu and @mattamania and good luck w/ brown!
do you think we will get an email on Monday then and then decisions later next week?
The “withdraw” option for the portal disappeared when I checked today. Do you think this means anything?
@ivysky It disappeared yesterday morning. Might mean some news could reach us soon. Either way early May is upon us. We may get news even sooner
My withdraw option disappeared from the portal too. I got into NYU so far so now ill be waiting on brown. How many essays did you guys write cause I did my application on common app and it was only one.
Well, I did quite a lot, but it depends on what you would categorize as an essay. I quickly noticed that the CommonApp allows 600 characters per extracurricular, as opposed to the 100 in last year’s freshmen app. So – naturally – I wrote like 15 mini essays that each had some sort of commentary on my interpretation on various things. In the section that allows you to link a URL, I included my letterboxd account, and wrote an additional movie review on K-On (god, I love K-On…) and the impact of societal support groups to beef up my overall reviews. I also included an animated film I made in high school. For the ‘any additional info’ section I added a dialogue excerpt from a novel I’ve been working on. So technically I wrote around 17 essays and a dialogue excerpt for my application… I regret nothing.
I forgot about the other mini essay about an activity, which is another essay I did.
Hi everyone! I know that your admissions results will be rolling in soon, so if possible, when announcing whether you got accepted or rejected, please include:
- Stats
- Extracurriculars
- Applied for Financial Aid or not
- What your essays were about
This is to help future students who’d like to transfer! Best of luck to you all; with the right mindset and dedication, you’ll go far in life no matter where you get in.
Did anyone else’s option to upload supplementary material disappear over the weekend and then reappear today (4/20) with the ability to view the previous supplementary material you uploaded?
@soulgaurdia yup, my supplementary material section has been gone since Friday but is back today. maybe we can expect an email soon
Same here the supplement section has returned this morning. Lets hope we hear something soon
Same thing happened to me with the supplementary materials section. I submitted my video thing back in February and never got any sort of confirmation, which is making me a little nervous. Were you guys able to see your video after you submitted it?
