Does anyone know what email address I could send a deferral letter to at Brown? I just want to reaffirm my interest, and state it’s my top choice, and talk about some accomplishments, etc. Has anyone sent a deferral letter/or anything similar to this yet? An email address would be extremely helpful!
@appcolleges7 I emailed my deferral letter to my regional officer. He responded saying he would add it to my app.
Does anyone know if Interviews are advantageous to the applicant? I have heard from other universities interviews are more for the student to get to know the school and address questions they have. If you consider yourself to do well on Interviews do you think you should seek it out? Or does it have no bearing on you getting admitted?
@Eugiebalfj The first post in this very helpful thread addresses your questions. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/810532-brown-interview-faq-and-answers-p1.html
Hi everyone I am looking to apply to Brown under the RUE program and wondering if I even stand a chance. Also if there are any brown students that are vets that might have some helpful insight. Ultimately, I want to major in either computer science or Electrical engineering with some business minor if possible.
Here are my stats:
-30 graded units with 4.0 GPA from 3 different colleges(National American university, American Military University, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical university)
-My coursework includes: college algebra, pre calc, Calc 1, Eng comp 1, public speaking, General Chem 1 with lab, survey of physics with lab, principles of management
- I will be starting calc 2 and physics 1 for engineers in March(9 week classes)
-Active duty Air Force(total of 4.5 years of service) - multiple military awards such as Airman of the year, airman of quarter, early promotions etc…
- approximately 400 community service hours mostly in youth sports also in various organizations like meals on wheels, relay for Life etc…
-4 years technical experience in mechanical and electrical technology working as HVAC/R technician
Thanks for the advice in advance

@appcolleges7 Yeah, that’s a letter of continued interest I think a lot of us deferred apps are sending one! My counselor told me to send it directly to your regional admissions rep (but you can also CC admissions). You can find yours here:

@eujiebalfj There was just an article in the Brown Daily Herald yesterday about efforts to expand veteran admissions.

Here is an op-ed piece by a current student who is a vet (referring to an unfortunate incident on campus) and the author’s email address is listed at the end. Perhaps you could contact him as a starting point.

is the only interview for Brown just the alumni?
@golfgal22: yes, that is the only type of interview offered.
I want in!
I so want in too!
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!
Any results for the deferred? This was just posted at Brown Daily Herald: “The regular decision acceptance rate was 6.5 percent, setting a record-low 8.3 percent acceptance rate for the class of 2021. The previous record of 8.5 percent was set for the Class of 2019. The students accepted regular decision join the 695 students accepted through early decision. Of those deferred from early decision, 5.4 percent were admitted regular decision.”
That means that a TON of extraordinary, amazing applicants did not get admitted.
