Bruins United vs. Students First?

Based on this thread, SF! should change its name to MINORITY students first!

Which is so effective considering that 65% of undergraduates are “minorities”.

Apparently it’s not too effective after all…

Students First! just lost lol

Den advisory vote: No
Diversity GE: Yes

Except that this is only the 2nd or 3rd time that Bruins United has controlled USAC, while Students First has dominated for most of the last several decades.

I would guess that the Den issue really helped get people that would lean toward Bruins United to vote.

Here’s my analysis:
I feel like this election has parallels to the 2008 presidential election. I think that Student’s First wasn’t really offering anything that students could get excited about. By focusing on diversity, they basically placed all of their hopes in minorities and liberal white people, who probably would have voted, and voted Students First, regardless. Bruins United on the other hand had some great ideas that impacted the entire school and was able to create energy amongst “independents”. In summary, Students First probably had overwhelming wins in the minority demographics, but they weren’t exciting enough to warrant putting the effort in to vote or to pull in other groups. Bruins United, on the other hand, probably did great amongst their key demographics but also did good in securing votes from people on the fence.

I’m glad the change to den seating was “no”…does that mean they definitely aren’t moving the seating under the basket? Will get my den pass if this is the case

“have you voted yet?”
