*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

The Penn State/Jefferson interview was today. Shout-out to @MedicalBoy
This won’t help any applicant for this year because everyone is interviewed on the same day, but for next year’s applicants, I’m just gonna give a brief overview of the day (@MedicalBoy, please correct me/add whatever you think):
The morning started with a bunch of presentations from the program director and current students in the program. It was really informative and the students made it clear how much they loved the program. After the presentations, students are split into groups. Some go to lunch first whereas others have their student interviews, and then they switch. The student interviews are short (20 minutes) and it’s just a chat. The students have to report “whether they would like to have us as a colleague in their future field”. There are also small-group Q&A sessions with current students, which is a nice chance to get your questions answered. After about 1pm, the interviews with faculty or alumni doctors started. Each interviewer had 4 interviewees, so these interviewers are also short (about 20 to 30 minutes). They actually are very chill and are just trying to see how you interact with others. While students were rotating through interviews, lunch, and Q&A, the parents were given a separate presentation and lunch. After all of the interviews, there was a cookie hour. I would suggest going because you can talk to all of the current students and to the program directors (they were both there, and they’re both super nice). Overall, the day was beautifully planned, and the current students do a really great job of showing why they enjoy the program- not a single person had any regrets, and everyone seemed psyched to be part of the Jefferson community. Also, about 500-600 apply, 100 are interviewed, and 50-60 are accepted. They aim for 25 matriculants.

On another note, I was rejected from U Pitt today. I think everybody who applied to the program was notified of either an interview or rejection this afternoon.
