Sorry about NU. My daughter did not get an interview to HPME and asked to be considered for regular admission, perhaps that’s why she got in. As others have said, NU knows you have other options and thinks you won’t attend. It is certainly not a reflection on you. Best of luck!

So I’ve made a decision to not attend my RPI/AMC interview next week. The fact that it’s not even a feesible option even if I get accepted would make me guilty to attend and possibly take a position better suited to another applicant who shows considerable interest in the program. I already have 2 acceptances and still waiting on 2 more. So since my decision will 100% be among those 4 programs (more specifically between 2 preferred ones), I will not attend the interview.

I really hope this didn’t cause anyone a loss of oppurtunity and hopefully it opens a new one for another applicant.

Congrats to @WeIsCool on HPME. You should be proud.

@FrozenShardz Sorry about NU. Don’t feel too bad and defiantly don’t think you aren’t good enough. In the end, nobody knows what the admission officers are truly looking for and randomness always plays a role.

@MedicalBoy
That’s very nice of you regarding RPI/AMC! Congrats on the acceptances and best of luck!

@MedicalBoy

Thanks for your thoughtful gesture. It might be helpful to those applicants, who have only received RPI/AMC interview invitation in this application cycle.

Oh @zryzor my letter did mention a waitlist this year… I really hope you get in on it! Will you stay on it?

Also, fun fact, they had a typo on the HPME email - they used last year’s letter and apparently forgot to change '13 to '14

Got into NU HPME!

@WeIsCool Ya, i’ll probably stay on it. So, is HPME your first choice? You should definitely consider it.

BU is out, soo excited to get it!

Accepted to BU!!!

^ Is this BU SMED??

Yeah

Yaaaay I also got into BU SMED!! Congrats to @starlight27 and @Sadfeet

Congratulations to all who got accepted to NU HPME and BU SMED over the last day or so. Well deserved!

Wow a lot of action lately. @starlight27 and @sadfeet congratulations!!

@medicalboy I thought that was very thoughtful of you to share about the RPI/AMC interview

weiscool - congrats on HPME!

Congrats to everyone who got into BU SMED.

I have toured Chicago and NU yesterday. Pretty nice campuses (too much traffic at Chicago).

I did mention about a month ago on this thread that it is important that people seriously interested in NU with or without HPME need to reiterate at every step they are still interested. Based on couple of presentations I sat through, NU undergrad believes they can accept upto 20,000 students and their mail goal is to weed out those who might be really good but might not show up if admitted. I am sure people who are genuinely interested still will get turned down when they run out of seats but a person shortlisted for an HPME app or being interviewed is consdiered at the top end of the pool academically and may not show up if the primary goal is BS/MD.

The pressure tactic interview is what happens when someone is in med school. They get asked questions and if they can’t respond immediately someone else gets picked. That is usually the teaching style and if you are not quick on your feet, you will get penalized on your grades during rotations which can affect the residency.

Congrats to welscool on getting accepted to HPME, sadfeet and starlight27 on bu/smed. Slcmom, very happy to see that your daughter got accepted into both nu and wustl. Congrats to all who got accepted.

@medicalboy very thoughtful; can’t stop admiring your Good Samaritan acts.

Hey guys! If anyone else got accepted to BU SMED and wants to join the facebook group- PM me ! Congrats everyone! @sadfeet @starlight27

Congrats everyone who received acceptances and hang in there the rest of us who are still waiting! I look forward to hearing where some of you who received multiple acceptances decide to attend. Best of luck to all.

Rejected from BU. It was such a tease to say “Congratulations!” When I first opened it…

Oh well. Congrats to everyone who got in!

@starlight27 Our streak had to end sometime hahaha. Congrats!
