When are the final Union College/Albany Med notifications coming out?

anyone know when case ppsp results come out?

@dumich thank you for your advice on Pitt! I agree, it’s a top notch program and it’d be an amazing opportunity if accepted into the program! I’m hoping results come out Monday of next week for Pitt GA Med Program?

@mdills17 Catherine said on or before April 8th

My son has decided to go to the BS/MD program at the University of the Sciences/TCMC. Is anyone else going to the same program?

Did he also apply to the TCNJ/NJMS Program?
Has anyone been notified yet by TCNJ?

UPDATE: NJMS decisions will come out Tues. April 2. The med school had a bit of a delay :/

Same question. My S has NOT yet been contacted and he is waiting. The web-site says NO LATER than April 1, but no call or email yet :(

Do you mean Wed April 2nd?
Was it TCNJ that told you about this? Thanks.

@Blink202
Where did you get this info from?

@Blink202 Is that just TCNJ or Rutgers-Newark also??

Okay, I have my final choices:
• UMKC - 6 year program (regional pool)
• Neomed - 6 year program (out of state)
• University of Oklahoma Medical Humanities Scholar Program – 8 year program (out of state)
• IIT/Midwest BS/DO program - 8 year program
I live in Chicago suburbs. Any advice on choosing between these programs would be great.

How do you know that this is delayed to April 2nd? @Blink202

Sorry for the confusion. I meant Wed, April 2nd. I called NJIT, and the counselor who handles the medical program paperwork told me there was a delay (NJMS sent out an email to the schools). This also applies to TCNJ, Rutgers Newark, and the other affiliated undergrad schools.

To docstudent. Congrats! Do not know too much about most of these as I am on the east coast but I have not heard great things about UMKC. May want to look more closely at that one.

@docstudent Don’t know much about the NEOMED, based on what I’ve read not sure that the 6 year plan is for everyone. You have to be real go getter. Are you focused just on medicine and nothing else or are you after acquiring other experiences along the way?
I recall reading about the Oklahoma program last year and their website really appealed to me but I have no clue where their students end up. I was impressed by what I read though. Wish I had remembered that one for my son this year.
True definition of freedom = choice. Congrats!!

@Midhelper, Thank you. What is your opinion of DO at Midwest University vs MD at the other three schools?

@docstudent Sorry I don’t know much about IIT - I actually like tech schools, my D is going to RPI which is also considered a tech school. A quick glance makes me think of a few things to consider:
- DO vs MD - most people prefer MD as it provides more options I believe for matching but in the long run it doesn’t make a huge difference. I think DO can only be used in the States whereas an MD can be taken to other countries??? OK I need someone to confirm this but there is some legal issue which might not be important at all. Typically, though, those who have an MD option choose that over DO.

Location - IIT is not in the prettiest of areas I hear. I know you are from Chicago so being closer to home might be more important to you so that’s a consideration. Personally, I think family is a hindrance for medical students but it depends on how much support you will need.

Tech schools don’t have the “core” classes you hear about at other schools. For example, at RPI my D couldn’t take Spanish or any language and the communication classes are more tech focused which is perfect for my D’s techy engineery brain. But for my son I would want a school that will give him more balanced exposure - philosophy class, an ethics class, maybe even a business class, a classics class. So it’s based on your preference of what you hope to get with your UG degree.

The other thing you might want to look for is what is so special about that program? Ask this question with all schools you are looking at and see which one provides what you would like.

Hope that gives you some useful things to think about.

Oh to add - IIT is a rigorous school, it will not be a cake walk by any means.

@Midhelper, Thank you

does anyone happen to know when drexel is supposed to respond? I’m getting very anxious…
