Sent in my app a few days ago!
UW GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1490 (RW 800, M 690)
ECs: ~600hrs of volunteer work between theater tech and being at my local aquarium! Nothing else that’s super noteworthy (typical club officer positions, academic conferences, art hobby, etc).
Intended Major: Environmental Studies
I’m super excited to see my results in December!!
My C25 applied ED to Bowdoin. 4.0 GPA, 36 ACT, and 600+ volunteer hours at the zoo. Biology and Environmental Studies major.
When are we guessing that decisions will come out? My current guess is 12/13.
I would also guess around the 13th - everything I’ve seen for the past few years has been the Friday before the 15th!!
Are there any acceptance indicators for Bowdoin? (Certain types of emails, portal change etc)
Confirmed December 13 7 pm EST
Didn’t get in, not even a waitlist or deferral… kind of heartbroken, honestly
My kid was accepted
Would you be willing to share stats, etc? Thanks!
4.0 (school doesn’t weight or rank), 36 ACT, top public school in Missouri, JV pole vault, tech theater, newspaper, 600+ volunteer hours at zoo.
I got in fully test optional!
4.1/4 unweighted GPA
No SAT
No AP Scores
I came from a very underfunding public school, each year we barely send anyone to selective colleges. But my ECs were above average.
My child was accepted ED. 3.7/4.2, (top 15%), ACT 35, most challenging course load at magnet school in all subjects. Mostly 4’s a few 5’s in AP’s. Many regional, state and local art awards, 5 scholastic gold keys- no national awards. 300 hours community service at local non-profit. No crazy internships, no research, didnt’ found a non-profit or a business. Had teen jobs in summer, some involving art., some food service. Very authentic voice in their essays. Not the top student at their school, but a great student, very curious about the world, challenged themself academically in a broad way and has sincere interest in liberal arts as well as helping people and building community. I think it’s true Bowdoin is seeking good personality fits for the school more than people with unimaginable accomplishments. and of course a whole lot of luck is also involved. Many accomplished, thoughtful, excellent students will be turned down due to it being a numbers game and a long shot for all. Good luck to everyone applying
