Buying a car permit at UCSC

Depends whether you’re a student or visitor.

As a student, you go to the TAPS office armed with your vehicle registration and your student ID. They will determine there if you are eligible to purchase a parking permit or not. The parking permit is a hangtag for your rearview mirror. It will have your vehicle’s (and any vehicle you’ve ever had attached to your account) license plate number on it. It is not transferable except to other vehicles with their license on the hangtag.
