Buying the Next House

If it makes you feel better, I’ve been living in my apartment for almost four years now and still have a thing or two in boxes…And I’m moving next weekend, so I figure I saved time in the long run! :p

LOL!!^^^

To be fair to myself, we will be renovating the kitchen and tearing down a wall to the family room. There are many boxes awaiting that completion.

When we sold our house, we had only several days to find a place and move. We were lucky to find a beautiful large home which was for sale and whose owner was willing to do a short term lease while we looked for a permanent home to buy. Part of the deal was our furnishings would make her vacant house more attractive and help in the sale. Since we agreed to allow her to continue to show the house and hold open houses, we had pressure to get in and get settled quickly.

I had all of our boxes unpacked, accessories displayed and art hung, and the house looking like a model home in about 4 days. That period of selling, packing, moving, and getting re-settled was the most frantic I’ve ever experienced. And now that we’ve found a new house, we get to do it all again in about 5 weeks.

Nrdsb4, you’ll survive. And this time, it’s into your house. It will feel different – and probably take you much longer, since you won’t have urgency at your back.

Could have copied it and scanned it into the computer for you!!

Well, I think you’re right, even though I do get tired just thinking about it. But, the fact that it is “ours” does make the packing part more of a happy thing. When we left our other house, we were okay that we were doing the right thing for this new stage in our life, but very ambivalent about leaving the house we designed with love and care and built for our very young family. I’m looking forward to this new house-it’s the first house DH will live in just as a couple, even though D2 will live with us during school breaks.

It’s a new chapter, marked by a new house. Just what we’re doing. Enjoy!

Finally sold the big sectional couch on Craigslist. To a CC person, if you can believe that!!

I love it!

Too funny, VH!

We should have a classified section!

The good news – besides the fact that my couch is going to a very good home – is that the family room now looks reasonably sized. With the couch in it, it was rather – ummmm – cozy.

I think we’re going to break ground on the kitchen in about two weeks. Hot plate and microwave, here I come!

VH, how funny/wonderful. The power of CC!

VeryHappy, that’s so funny, but I am happy that you are rid of it!

I bought VeryyHappy’s sectional. I really like the way it looks in my living room, but man, is it big!

Our cat is wondering where the dogs are. They must be around here somewhere since she can smell them, so she’s staying in the bedroom to be on the safe side.

Smart cat.

Yeah, it’s big, isn’t it.

kappie, we hope you enjoy it for years to come!!

Are you sure VeryHappy and Kappie is not the same person with two logons?

alp: I guarantee it. We are not the same person. My couch is definitely gone from my house!!

But she does live only two miles away.

It appears we are going to start demolition on our kitchen on Monday, February 4. DH is having an anxiety attack, thinking of all the decisions we’ve postponed that we now have to make. I told him to relax, but I’m starting to feel a bit of anxiety myself.

^^^^^^Good luck! Take before and after pictures to show to all your friends. Or maybe post it on “rate my reno” on HGTV.com. :D

vh, go out and win one for the Gipper!!!
