CA single payer health care

^^See, now that, I think, might be a good idea (without knowing the ins and outs of it). People have a choice. It’s a program already in place. They can adapt the cost of it to people as needed. It doesn’t affect other people’s insurance who don’t want to participate, and isn’t enforced upon everyone. I think they should have done that instead of Obamacare, in the first place. However, they might have a big problem finding enough doctors to participate.

The US as a whole is already trending in that direction. And some politicians apparently want to accelerate that trend, with tax cuts targeted to the super-rich (rather than the middle income and “middle class”), while trying to distract everyone else into resenting the poor.

I love the Nevada Medicaid buy-in plan. It’s sensible. It doesn’t cost a fortune. It would have some problems-- access, in some cases-- but the problems could be dealt with.

If Nevada increased Medicaid reimbursement, some of the cost would be borne by the feds, who would be paying higher premium tax subsidies.

US is trending towards single payer when you look at the growing numbers of people on Medicare and Medicaid.

^ Nevada’s plan sounds promising. I like that it compliments the existing market based system, rather than replaces it. If you like your insurance, keep it, and if you don’t have insurance, here’s a no-kidding affordable option. Hopefully it pans out, and there are enough doctors who will accommodate it.
