Cable TV & Internet

StudLife once again gets its facts wrong - Cable is included with all housing for free, regardless of internet purchase. Cable really isn’t the driver behind the higher cost, it’s the wireless and increased bandwidth for campus. I know other schools that use the new TV provider that WashU uses, and they all include it free - It’s about the same cost to include it free for every resident than to spend money on connecting and disconnecting individual rooms with this new provider.

That’s not the answer I received from them, they told that they were given cable TV for free because last year many students stole it, so the only way to cover that cost was raising the Internet’s price. Thanks to Student Life and the long hours its stuff members were emailing back and forth, all the students will have this semester the same price they had last year while STS is working in a new solution.

Cressmom - There was actually no cost to the university for cable stolen, other than having to check rooms over the breaks - If cable was stolen and a resident was caught, they were charged for cable & a fine. If cable was stolen and the resident was not caught, nobody could tell that they had cable, and no bill came to the university for that cable connection. I used to work for ResTech, and I’ve seen the process over a few years.
