[] Essays: common app essay - pretty good. for 3 experiences that got me interested in STEM: 1) math competitions, 2) ross, 3) meeting people from (1) and (2) (kinda redundant now thinking about it but w/e). Ethical dilemma was helping a kid I was tutoring finish a course in time for him to graduate without cheating through the course. Quirky way in which I have fun - I talked about a game I invented that’s fun. Diversity was South Florida and the diverse people here (I talked about a sport called jai-alai which used to be popular in Miami). For the why Caltech essay, I just talked about the rigor and the math program and research opportunities (just basically what I liked about Caltech). I r8 all my essays 8/8 m8.

[li] I agree with the advice given by good interrupt… I like math so I did math. Keep in mind that thousands (im guessing) of applicants have SAT scores that are sufficiently good and good grades so just having those two won’t help. Also, from people I know, trying to be the applicant “that is not only good at math and science, but is great at x” (where x could be something like painting) without showing that you are good at math and science (apart from grades and scores) will get you flat out rejected.[/li][/ul]
