I’m curious why you second the recommendation for UCF? My son has applied to FSU and is about to apply to UCF as well. With the annual rankings and strong alumni base in the industry, FSU has been his first choice all along. UCF is his second choice. But, only because in-state Florida public school choices are pretty limited for a film major. In your opinion, what makes UCF a strong choice for him (other than locale)?
Also, since both programs are very competitive, he is looking at another option. The University of Tampa has a film major. It is a BA program instead of a BFA and I believe it is not limited access like the other two. Do you know anything about that school and their film program?
Truthfully, if he doesn’t get accepted into FSU on the first try my vote will be that he stays home for a year and finishes up his AA transfer degree (with dual enrollment and AP classes, he will be close). After that, he can try again as a transfer.
