Can I get in next year? Class of 2018

I had a 3.4ish UW, 8 APs, a 2000 SAT (760 CR, 580 M, 660 W), and wrote great essays (<-- this is coming from someone who got that CR score without cracking a prep book open, and earned his 5 in AP Lang the same way)… Also had a great letter or recommendation (had the teacher for both AP Gov and APUSH… Had the only A and the only passing AP score in my gov class. Also took gov a year early). Had lots of leadership in one EC, won a regional academic competition, too… Got waitlisted.

But my transcript was full of grades so low that I’d prefer not to speak of them, so that’s likely why. Plus I applied RD… I know people whe got in EA who are less qualified.

My prom date had a 4.0 UW, a mid 1800s SAT score, 4 APs, decent ECs, a good letter of recommendation (she’s a suckup), and she got waitlisted as well. In the RD round.

So I’d say you have a chance, but not an especially high one. You might get accepted, but don’t assume you will.
