Can I get into at least ONE of these schools?

Thank you for your continued support, everyone! As soon as I got the acceptance to WashU, I wanted to go there, as the school had been growing on me more and more ever since my visit. But my acceptance to Vandy threw a bit of a curve in: I still feel like my heart is at WashU but would Vandy be better. As you can tell, I’m prone to overthinking haha… Both schools cost the same for me, so it’s really just a choice to be made.

As a parent of a WashU kid, I would say go to WashU, but to be honest go to the school that is the best for your potential major and where you feel the most comfortable.

You can’t go wrong between WashU and Vandy. It might come down to a flip of a coin. Or a couple of visits.

Hi all!

Just to keep you fully updated, I’ve committed to WashU. Thanks for all your advice.

Good pick. But you couldn’t lose. Hopefully, you stick around and advise kids next year of their picks

Your GC was right in her prediction that you’d get into BU and Nova. I concurred with the BU, but I was surprised at a couple of kids close to your stats that didn’t get in.

In any case, I firmly believe that there should be some likely schools on the early app list. My close friend’s son was frazzled and stressed when his safety, UMich, deferred him early. As well as his first choice school, though that was more predictable. To be empty handed over the holidays these days can be nerve racking. My sin was very very grateful that he had a fistful of acceptances even before his ED choice came in, last of the early app schools to respond. He was already happily looking at the other choices so a denial was definitely buffered. Not so for a lot of kids. It makes for a stressful holiday season as well as long winter thereafter.

IMO, BC, Nova , WashU and Vanderbilt are all schools that were risks. My son had numbers similar to yours, and he did get an ED admissions to a school that his peers with similar resumes did not gain entry. So though you did do well in the end, it was not a risk I’d have wanted to take with just BU as your safety. You were wise to add SLU and Loyola to your list.

Thank you for the update!
I wish you a great time at Washington University in St. Louis!!

I’ve been reading the entire thread LOL. Congratulations on Wash U!
