I have a 3.7 gpa which is not sufficient for top caliber schools. On the other hand, I do not believe this is an accurate depiction of my true intelligence. I have taken every Honors class provided totaling over 10 AP’s. I have over 400 volunteer hours and am going abroad this summer (currently a junior) to volunteer in India. I study at a top 100 high school in America.
I am in 5 to 8 clubs and am a position in 3 of these. Editor in chief of the school newspaper and president of 2 of those aforementioned clubs. I have volunteer hours from teaching a class and tutoring. I was elected as president of my school’s AP Core program and I act as a facilitator for dialogue nights at my school in which students, parents, and faculty come together to discuss topics that relate to the community. I think I can show I am an active member of my community and I will have amazing recommendations along with a good essay. I am in NHS and will super-score around a 2280 on my SAT. If you need any additional info just ask but my dream is to go to Duke. I will do anything to get in and will apply early. I also played the drums and reached level 6 in Nyssma. I’m ranked 8th in the nation for scrabble. Any chance?

it looks like a reach…

8th the nation for Scrabble? Do tell…

Ahh yes, I actually enjoy playing scrabble so I went to nationals and managed to win 8th place out of 100+ teams. This was a few years ago but I am starting official tournaments again

Your GPA is on the low side but your story is interesting and you would lose nothing by trying. Just be sure to have some backups and a good safety or two.

Write your Common App as a Scrabble game anecdote.
