Your parents probably are encouraging the CC route now because they don’t want you to feel like you are losing any time, and they feel rotten about Temple being taken out of the picture. In addition to the college application advantages of a gap year, if you take a gap year you have a lot more flexibility in when you move to the US. You could come tomorrow, you could come whenever it is that your parents come, or you could come at any time in between. You also have much more flexibility in where you live once you get here - some place you choose now, some place you and your parents choose later. It really is a win-win all around.
Please remember that you and your parents will go through a lot of readjustments moving back to the US. Cultural re-entry shock is a real thing. It might be nice to be able to get that over before you hit the college classroom.
