Can we talk bathroom remodel??

I’ve been trying to get Parents (here) to get one of of the bidets for many years. I’ve invite people to try our bidet out, if anything to wash their hinny  . A word about these units, some are more comfortable than others. You do need to test drive to get the best experience. :D

Tiling directly over greenboard in showers is against code in my town, unless it’s covered with an entirely waterproof material such as roofing paper (that could be the felt you’re referring to). The Kerdi system is also well-respected. There’s a lot more information on this if you surf the Gardenweb bathroom forum.

I had to look up what “greenboard” was since I’ve never seen it. My shower had some sort of a cement-based material (probably the kind Novelisto described).

I agree, while one does not have to be a complete pest, keeping an eye on the contractors is important. We were happy that the builder of our house was very vigilant. One of the subcontractors messed up the paneling in the living room but using texture where it wasn’t supposed to be, and the builder was furious. He made the guys come back and re-do the whole thing. The builder ordered a small corner tub for our bathroom, but instead recieved a huge double-wide soaker! Since it would have taken too long to exchange it, the builder re-designed the bathroom somewhat and installed the big tub at no charge. H absolutely loves it!

LongPrime - don’t you get the impression that the rest does not know what we are talking about? ;)

Somewhere a couple of years back there was a thread extolling the virtues of bidets. Anyone remember it?

mathmom, yes, that thread is so sad for me to think about because LTS and I had some really good laughs reading and posting on that thread. In fact I she made me laugh so hard that I had tears streaming down my face.

Found the thread:

Kelowna: Not at all. My seat knows what it knows. It is not gonna seat around for anyone.
It thinks that many are hesitant because they are afraid that the Thing will bite their rear off, because the a$$ is too big.  :D
