It brings stress. No guilt in my life. Whatever happened, has happened, if I want to eat good tasting food, I go for it. Cannot deprive ourselves, cannot focus too much on this side. 7 lbs on me after wonderful vacation with unbelievable food and drinks, tried everything I wanted. So, I lost 3 and 4 to go before next vacation in March. If I do not loose them, I eventually will. Relax, enjoy today. When today is gone, our memory of it should be sweet, not sour.

Mom60 – Call me Mom65 because, like you, if it’s colder than that, I’m not going out!

SplashMom – I like those games a lot…esp. the bowling and the golf in Sports, as most of the WiiFit games don’t work the arms much…except for the boxing which I am just not coordinated enough to do well. Did you know you can rent wii games just like movies? Even RedBox has them (sometimes). I tried out JustDance2 before we bought it to see if I’d like it. Helps to keep the routine changing so I don’t get bored.

Day 11. Felt crappy all day. I think I’m fighting something off. Hope I feel better tomorrow morning.

I need some new music too. I’ve been listening to Phoenix (from D’s ipod) which has very steady rhythms and catchy tunes. I also listen to language podcasts but I’m finding it hard to pay attention as I am actually breaking a sweat lately, and also I’m moving up out of basic level in the language.

I’ve recently been picking up a cardio routine and I like to mix faster paced songs with slower (but still upbeat) songs to match my intervals. I find I am able to run longer than ever before on that system and mixing up the song styles keeps the workout from getting monotonous. It just seems to help me stay motivated. I won’t bore you with what kind of crap I actually listen to, but thought I’d share my strategy. :P

I listen to a lot of Tom Petty, REO, Hoodoo Gurus, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pat Benatar, etc. I like some newer stuff, too, though, and can’t get the song “Forget You” (that’s the clean version) by Cee Lo out of my head. It makes me dance all over the place.

mousegray – It’s not unusual to feel kind of ‘meh’ when you’ve started to exercise and eat right. If your body is anything like mine, it resists change with everything it’s got! Anything to make me sit on the couch and munch ‘comfort food’…but I’ve put it on notice that even if I do feel less than prime, I’m still doing what I’ve been doing!

Also, if you are cutting back on caffeine…you can def. have some withdrawal symptoms. When my dh stopped drinking coffee (and he drank a lot) he had headaches, felt stuffy, couldn’t taste anything and was several of the Seven Dwarves…most notable Grumpy, Dopey, and (un)Happy.

Well, I was definitely Sleepy today (day 12)! I think my problem is this nagging cold I’ve been holding off, plus lack of adequate sleep.

I’ve been reading the book, Switch, and I think I will try a strategy that is called Action Trigger, or something like that (don’t have the book with me now). It’s about setting up your environment, and “pre-loading” a conscious decision before you actually do it, so when the time comes, you can just do it. Or, at least that’s the idea. So, tonight I will watch a half-hour sitcom rerun at 11, instead of Law & Order which always gets me agitated, turn off the tv at 11:30, and get in bed. Oh, and before that, I will brush my teeth and put on my pajamas at 10:45 so I won’t have to do that after turning off the TV. Believe it or not, I actually procrastinate brushing my teeth. Now, this may seem really silly for those of you who just automatically go to bed when tired with minimal fuss! But I am fighting 51 years of being sent to bed too early so my mother could have some peace. OK, not actually 51 years, maybe just 12 or so, but that seems to have been enough to set up resistance to going to bed for the rest of my life.

This habit thing is like a house renovation — you open up a wall and see all this crazy wiring all over the place.

Day… 13. Starting to lose track here. It’s a good thing I began this whole thing on 1/1/11!

I successfully went to bed as planned. I must be overtired or something because I slept for 9 hours and this afternoon, I am very sleepy. My body is not yet used to this new routine.

I’m finding that it’s increasingly easy to go through my morning exercise routine. It is starting to feel automatic. This morning for instance, I had no conversation with myself about whether I would do it or not, I just did it! Like any new convert, I’m starting to think that this is the solution for every personal woe – trying to make a career change? Start a new 21 day habit! Don’t like your relationship to your Mom? New habit!

Mousegray- congrats for keeping it up. At what day did it start to feel automatic?
I know I can do it since I did it last year. I find getting myself out the door the hardest. I don’t know what day I am on. I will need to backtrack on this thread. I have had a couple of missed days.
Still going to physical therapy and my therapist is happy with my progress. Played almost an hour of tennis today with only a small amount of pain.
I do feel good about my eating. I haven’t had any bread, white carbs or sweets this week.
Not doing as well on my new habit of taking all my junk out of my car each day. I would have to give myself an F grade on that.

Oh, I believe it! I just get lazy late at night - easier to lay around watching TV or reading instead of getting up and heading to the bathroom. Then when I do get there it wakes me up so I have to stay up longer…I think it’s all related to the times (not long ago) when going to sleep meant the next thing I had to do was get up, make sure the kid was up, get started working, feel guilty about not exercising, etc. Of course I wanted to put that off!

So far I’ve managed to get on the Wii Fit every day for 10 days except the days I was shoveling. Doing exercise between cups of coffee has really made a difference. Just that one little change…

Playlist: American Pie (don Mcclean)
Rebel, Rebel
Young American (Bowie)
Paper Chaser (tI and Rhiana)
So What? (Pink)
Stronger, Faster, etc… (that guy who was mean to that country singer girl)
some songs my 16 yo put on for me by some people I don’t know.

Open to suggestions…As you can see, my kids laugh at my workout music and change it on me whenever they can.

They always put the “radio mix” on for me, though.

Today is Day 15. Our D is leaving for Europe today for study abroad so am feeling very emotional, so I just did some gentle yoga this morning. It felt like the right thing to do.
